Chemical weapons do not have anywhere near the same capacity to spread and affect neighbouring countries as nuclear weapons. If we're talking biological weapons, as in diseases that can be transmitted among people, then perhaps. I saw a news clip where they were showing UN inspectors waiting to enter an area where there had been an alleged chemical bomb dropped. They were only a few feet away and were perfectly safe, needing no gas masks or anything because the bomb was dropped on the previous night.
I'm not trying to make an argument that chemical weapons are safe or anything like that. Neither am I trying to say it's okay that civilians are being killed. However, what war hasn't seen civilian casualties? War is not a pretty thing. If we're watching 2 people in a knife fight, and we know that one of them is going to kill the other, it seems a bit odd to say "you guys can stab each other to death in any part of your bodies, but just don't stab below the waistline. If I see one of you stab the other in the crotch, I'm getting involved." I think the number 1 thing that the US can do if it's truly concerned about civilian casualties is to prevent those very same kinds of casualties from its forces. To go after Syria because they're "killing civilians with chemical weapons" seems hypocritical and pretentious.

Regardless of whether or not Syria is actually using chemical weapons, there do seem to be some sort of ulterior motive. In war, nothing is sacred. People will use whatever means is available to them to get the job done. As much as we can judge their use of chemical weapons, our indiscriminate use of drones that often times kills civilians can be judged in the same way.

The thing I'm pointing out is, why is it always OUR men and women? Don't China & India have armies bigger than ours? Why aren't they going "Omg Syria, we out"
Why does the U.S. ALWAYS involve itself in worldly affairs that don't pertain to them and why in the last 12 years has the focus for "aid" and "liberation" been in a concentrated area such as the middle east?
Everytime these wars happen it's almost always my cousins, my friends, etc putting their lives on the line because OUR government has a problem with another government and world leaders are too pussy to put the gloves on and fight
If you have family in the army and they're always getting shipped off somewhere that has extremists and pretty lethal weaponry you'd feel the same fuckin way
to sum up this thread: why does the U.S. have to play Captain Save A Ho and why is it always in the middle east when the entire world has countries plagued with disease that kill waaaay more people than wars. or in Africa's case, genocides. Genocides are still humans committing crimes on humanity..isn't that what we respond to? Yet we left Africa alone
We leave all these countries alone until our world leaders get bored and decide to they need to flex on these other niggas

Problems in other countries escalate, turning in to world problems.

As @ Jason said, I have no clue w/ the Syria situation. But I have 3 friends currently serving in the Marines, 1 in the Army. One of the marines is about to be deployed to Afghanistan, other in S. Korea. I believe what America is doing is right to some extent. I understand we're the ''big brother'' to a lot of countries that depend on us. But invading Syria obviously isn't because of this, when has America ever given a fuck about something if it's not going to be beneficial? We're probably doing it for, A. Gas or B. To snoop around and see if they possibly have WMD. But @ Indonesia .. Here's what pisses me off. You say we go to war because of ''some'' 9/11 attack? THOUSANDS of people fucking died, good fucking people. Didn't your country have a tsunami not so long ago? Do you know America invested over 300 million dollars and sent over ships/aids/food etc.. to try and save your people? That's just plain fucking ignorance.

the complete truth right here also who cares if we piss off Russians idk if thats already been stated but as of like recently since the Cold War Russia has never been our friend, their country is ran with an iron fist with no regard for human life. For instance they support Iran as well as Syria why?? Because its the people like that, that have their backs. If we help out the rebels, it would seem like instead of basically having a foe in Syria we would become allies with the people we propel into power. Also were not terrorists we don't DELIBERATELY kill innocent people or TERRORIZE countries we just try and help out when we can i mean..What happened to PATRIOTISM
