Just so it’s clear with everyone in this thread, I would absolutely be copy and pasting a welcome message with helpful tips and appropriate links to all new members. I would absolutely not be writing a unique message for each user. However, users could still go with me as their point of contact if they had follow up inquiries.

Because having a robot send you an automated message isn't as lovely as an actual person copying and pasting a message just for you.

Like if someone got a message that they knew was automated, they wouldn't be as likely to read it as a message from an actual person. That's how I look at it at least. Also, not everyone is going to use the same ideology as me and Edgeworth. However, we'll all be inclined to guide the n00bs and I think a human being telling another human being right from wrong would be better than a FAQ or some shit like that.

edge and i are working on creating a new guide for rookies, and we will send a scripted message to all new comers, but we will also serve as their tour guides through lb and answer any questions they have. it's something that happens eventually if someone stays but, this will be a much more welcoming process.

As I just stated, receiving a message from an actual user is more pleasantly welcoming than having a bot programmed to send that message.
