A rhyming pattern is a drop in the ocean of what defines a style. What about flow, concepts, set-ups, delivery, multi formulations? I'm not saying to completely abandon the idea of an "alternate" rhyming structure but pertaining to one is tacky and boring. I'd start from AAAA and go from there, now I can I slip in some inner rhyming structures. Why establish something before developing a style? Giving yourself more restrictions.
