Lies about Rap Music
What this thread is about, is EXACTLY the opposite of what you think it's about. "I'm flipping this on these people who say "People brand rappers by how we dress". For anyone with UK TV and Channel 4, you might know about the stupid hip hop week, and specifically this 'Life of Rhyme' show I'm watching.
These are guys saying that "Hip Hop is a way of life, a way to express ourselves through poetry and lyricism. People brand us and judge us by the way we dress, the way we speak and where we're from. We aren't like that, we speak of our lives and tell our stories through art". I'm power phrasing, but everyone gets the jist.
Now, I am literally MUCH better at whatever you want with these guys. I could beat them in a battle, I could write a better song, freestyle better, and overall as a rapper minus bad voice and natural things, I'd be much much superior to these guys in every way, yet I don't see any of this. To me, it's a hobby, and these mediocre rappers, or as they call themselves, 'MCs' are making out that rap music is all about the heart and soul. That they are being wrongly judged. Look at the songs of the best, and look at their histories.
2Pac was conviced of shooting and rape, Biggie was a drug dealer, Eazy E promoted beating wimen, Eminem speaks of murdering his daughter's mother.
Rap Music is a selfish and commertial thing. Everyone aspires to sell their records, and the majority of people who don't sell out are just not good enough to do so. Rap Music isnt about heart and soul, it's a music industry, and it's about making music people want to hear. People write meaningful songs grouped with songs about fucking wimen and taking drugs.
Is anyone here actually in belief that rap music contains the lies that these people speak? Look at some names on here. Gun related, drug related, murder related.

But are they any good? Immortal Technique let Green Lantern make his entire album shit, AOTP have very little meaning and force out grimey songs. If these guys could, they'd be on our TVs. Sure there are some artists, but we all know that rap music isnt the lie changing soul enriching way of expression that people claim.

No, things are just what they are. Student thinks his persona is straight, Rican thinks semi colons go everywhere, Pulse thinks Hyper Ball Lickin Time is dope. The reality is, rap music is just music. Nothing more, nothing less. It's not a poetic mirror image of a hard life on the streets. It's just some dudes talking nonsence and promoting violence and drug use, or it's some dudes tryna get $$$

dude a lot of Hip Hop songs have changed the way I see things.
Just because you're one of those closed minded fucks doesn't mean we all are.
Alot of the songs I push are "poetic mirror images of hard life on the streets", and many other artists push True shit as well...
smh

Lies. Music doesent change your life. It can inspire you, and if you become talented and successful at what you were inspired to do, then sure, you can give the artist the credit, but the artist was just trying to make money off of you. Rappers lie, all the time. Rappers arent trying to express themselves, they are trying to break an industry and make something with their own life. Which rappers try ti express themselves? I say this, because I love poetry, and reciently I have properly got into it. Never once has a rapper used imagery to me. Imagery is the strongest poetic technique, and if rappers used it to portray a story or give us some feeling to a deeper message in which they are trying to convey, then sure, I'd accept it. Rap music is not poetry, rap music is just dumb rapping about things that shouldnt never be given a main stage. If you're life was truley hard, why are you hung up on using that to propell your career? Forget it and overcome all the hardship. You can't complain if it was a platform to success.

Dosage, you're name, and even mixtape, promotes drug use of one of the worst types. Are you trying to tell me that you are a poet expressing yourself?

I am a poet expressing myself. Have you ever listened to the messages in any of my songs? For that matter, have you ever once took the time to listen to any of my songs? You think everyone is in it for the financial gain, and you're fucking dead wrong man. Alot of people are, I'll give you that. But there are a small few who actually express their true thoughts and feelings through their songs. And imagery is something I have used in quite a few of my songs, so what you're trying to say doesn't apply to me in the slightest bit.

Show me one example of lines were you used imagery.
Also, as I said, look at your name and album cover. Those things are just general drug use which runs along with my exact rapper sterotype.
