remarKs Movie Thread
I'm going to update this thread with current films I've watched.
1) mother
Language: Korean
Writer/Director: Joon-ho Bong

Just watched this film last night and it was bizarre in the best way possible. It's about a mother who has an unhealthy relationship with her somewhat mentally ill son. When her son is arrested for the murder of a young woman and essentially framed... the mother sets out to find the real culprit behind the crime, prepared to take down anyone in her path.
RATING: 9/10
2) LIMITLESS
Director: Neil Burger
Writer(s): Leslie Dixon (screenplay), Alan Glynn (novel)
I personally felt like this movie fell way short of anything substantial. It started off quite well with an almost whimsical feel, leading me to think it would be a strange and curious film with a good commentary behind it. Not at all.... Soon after it fell into the typical Hollywood structure, which to me isn't a bad thing... BUT it is when the plot is horrible. I didn't care about him being a writer and he didn't either apparently.... his stock market job is dull and boring, and he has no redemption what so ever.
If there is a commentary to this film, it could read as: "Do drugs and things will eventually pan out in the end"
RATING: 3/10

I watched 2 films recently Inception and Toy Story 3.... Toy story 3 was a really good finale to that trilogy, Inception was good but I think it was WAY overhyped, personally I prefered Source Code.

I wanted to post all my reviews in the OP, but I can't include more than 4 images in one post apparently. So here's another...
3) The Thing
Director: Matthijs van Heijningen Jr.
Writer(s): Eric Heisserer, John W. Campbell Jr.
For a prequel, this film was damn good. I liked the way it was done and even though it obviously doesn't compare to the original... I was interested the whole way through. I also liked how the film leaves off where the first one started... thought that was really cool. It way be filled with cheap thrills and some CGI that goes a little too far at moments, but I sort of loved it for that anyways. Definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of the 1982 version.
RATING: 7/10
4) Let The Right One In
Language: Swedish
Director: Tomas Alfredson
Writer(s): John Ajvide Lindqvist (screenplay), John Ajvide Lindqvist (novel)
This film is beautiful on so many different levels. The actual shots are stunning and the relationship that evolves on screen between the two kids (who were amazing actors) is incredible. It evokes a certain emotional response that'll have you thinking about the film for days after watching it. I was referred to this film because of the remake, which was pretty awful if you compare it to this original. It's practically a shot by shot remake, but the characters are not even close to as dynamic. Also the performances were sub-par and the two had no chemistry IMO... which is sad because I liked what's her name.... "Hit Girl" from Kickass. So to be conclusive, "Let the Right One In" shits on "Let Me In" by a long shot.
RATING: 9/10
