Battles will remain open indefinitely until the VP (vote power) is higher for one battler.
In (many) cases where a battle is open for longer than 3 days, its due to VP, being, each battler has equal amount of VP on that particular battle.
Says the guy who can't rap for a min and a half, had 100's of punch-ins in his tourney battle against the GC, @Rowdy.
