ILLMANIA I - Classick Vs Spectacular Vs Legion

The Beginning

In the summer of 2010 there were three active crews vying for the top spot in letsbeef. The crews were: Classick At Rhymin, a crew formed that year by RULE. Classick At Rhymin were mostly an elevation crew, that specialised in help each other improve there skills. All of Classicks members were rookies and unestablished textcees. By the time of ILLMANIA I, Classick had been involved in a long time rivalry with Spectacular Vernacular. The second crew was: Spectacular Vernacular, the crew formed by remarK. SV had a great mix of established and newer textcees, and were also a strong force on the audio side of letsbeef. Spectacular Vernacular had been beefing with Classick At Rhymin for many months proir to ILLMANIA I, which thus formed the catalyst for the event itself. The third crew involved in the event was the: Legion Of Doom, a crew created by Mindless. Legion Of Doom were created in 2010 and were still relatively new on the scene by the time ILLMANIA I rolled around. LoD had a great blend of different styles with strong emcees, textcees & topical writers. LoD were most well known for there humourous touch on the forums but still boasted a strong team. Althought they hadnt been around long, they threw in a challenge to both Classick and SV for letsbeef dominance, which lead to the first ever ILLMANIA.

The Aftermath

ILLMANIA I saw Classick At Rhymin victorious over Spectacular Vernacular and Legion Of Doom in a event that saw 0 no-shows and alot of fiercely competed battles. The planned 2nd and 3rd ILLMANIA events never took place and the rivalrys between the three crews eventually died down. Classick At Rhymin went on to make a couple crew mixtapes and 6 or 7 solo tapes. But the crew disbanded after the summer of 2011. Spectacular Vernacular continued to remain a force for several months following ILLMANIA, but went inactive due to the departure of there figurehead: remarK. SV are still around although inactive, so the chance of a return remains in the realm of possibility. It is a similar story with Legion Of Doom, they stayed active for a while after the event ended but eventually grew inactive and disbanded. The crew itself however still remains in the hands of there talisman: Sid Vicious - so also the possibilty of a return in always on the cards.
