Survivor by Chuck Palhaniuk, fucking epic. Also Haunted, same author.
A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggars. Stylistic as a motherfucker, boy can write. Sister killed herself over this book.

If you're into military stuff I recommend "Lone Survivor". It's about how four Navy SEALs went on a reconnaissance mission that went wrong called Operation RedWing. True story, great read.

It's this dude Dave Eggars's memoir. Both of his parents died of unrelated illnesses within like a month or two of each other, so when he was 18 he became basically the sole guardian of his 9 year old lil' brother. However, he had a sister that was around his age who felt like she was portrayed unfairly in the book. She took her life because of it, and now he refuses to speak about the book in any forum.
The book is really interestingly written though and I found it really different and enjoyable.

Although I haven't read it, that book Unbroken (i think) is supposed to be another amazing story of a SEAL that was lost at sea for weeks and survived.

Yeah, and he writes in a really bizarre way, like he has conversations with his brother that turn into inner monologues and a back and forth with himself that you don't catch right away. It's one of my favorite books.
The dude ended up opening some writers workshops for kids, but the space he had to do it was zoned for retail so he had to sell stuff. He turned the front of his space into a super hero supply store, selling capes and lazer shit an gadgets, then had the workshop in the back. Cool guy.
