For those who record, is an MXL 990 a good microphone for recording music? I don't have a pre-amp or anything and I'm getting it for my birthday was just wondering if it's a good mic or not. I've looked up youtube videos and reviews on it but I want to hear from someone who I KNOW wasn't paid and not a professional at this shit to get a real review on it. THANKS!! If not an MXL 990, what's another good, affordable mic? Under $120 if possible.

i fucks with the m-audio producer usb mic, it runs about 100 in NY, 150 over in canada... comes with mixing software though too nice quality a lot of people use it, great start up mic
