I cant say anybody on here Influenced how I rap at all, but I WILL say reading Verses from cats like Left Feild, Mahvy, Illy and Bobby definately motivated me to go in .......

Honestly as far as the Regular Default Blueprints of a LB battle verse, Illy Fathered a few peoples concepts even of they dont even know it ..... MahVulus definately Influenced cats swag on here ....... and I'd like to think dat as far as setups, i INFLUENCED SOME GUYS whenever-I-type-shit and "Den-set-it-up-like-dis" den BOOM! A PUNCHLINE! lol I see dat structure a lot now

How can you have flow in a text battle? I mean, schemes, and readability, sure. But how can you determine how a person is flowing that verse when it's typed. :S Louie Dawgs, audio battle me, we'll see if you have the flow you say you do.

It's hard to pinpoint exactly one person who changed the game.

Me, LEFT FIELD, Conceited, Statz and Brixx all came to this site from Myspace at about the same time, and we definitely inspired a lot of people to up their games, but Real Talk and Bobby Milk were both here a lil before that and goin' just as ham as us. But the more talented folks that are around each other, the more they try to top what the other dude did.

Ellahmeno was slept on for a long ass time so his influence isn't as obvious, however, Meta4, ESPECIALLY on his So Amazin account really raised the bar and drew a line in the sand between forced schemes and swaggerific schemes. He made it necessary to have FLOW in your text verses, which brings me to this...

Bro.. words were AUDIBLE before they were WRITTEN. Communication is verbal, so therefore once something is transcribed from spoken to written, it will not lose it's rhythm.

Do you know what "iambic pentameter" is? it is the name for one specific rhythm that words can fall into, often used in poetry.

think about musical notes. you hear them. they have flow, they have rhythm. Once you translate the music onto a sheet of paper by writing the notes into a staff, do they suddenly lose their rythm?? nah. truth is if somebody doesn't know how to play the music on the sheet, that doesn't mean the music on the page has no rhythm or flow, they just can't play very well

so therefore, you can write something with flow, like a text verse... but that doesn't mean you can rap tho... so you're only kinda right, Jack.

^ But you can't know the rhythm that the person is using in their text verse. I mean, you can read it off to a rhythm in your own head, but that doesn't mean it's the same as how the person who wrote it would say it. I think it falls more under the category of readability, than it does flow.

I am fully aware that someone might be ass at rapping, but still be capable of writing a readable verse, but that's more of a performance thing. The english language has rythm regardless, and where there's rythm, there is flow.

I get it that cats who know how to rap a lil bit on here like to shit on text heads because they "might be good at texting" but they "cayn't rap."

And the ones that can't rap might do some text and create accidental genius, but flow is flow. even if my mind puts the flow to their words. good textcees can write with evident flow, even if they can't rap.

So in theory, I am not gonna say there's no flow to text just for the sake of sticking it to the text cats that don't know how to rap, even tho most text heads... can't fucking rap.

But I'm definitely not saying that all text has flow simply because it's words. Most text heads have no flow, and the ones that do know how to actually rap have a signifigant advantage to the pen game, imo tbh.
