The shooting's motivation doesn't seem to be known yet, but here are some possibilities:
Atheism? I don't mean to support mass murder, because I don't, but I've honestly been wondering when an atheism-motivated mass murder would occur.
I suppose racism, if it was a mainly black church?
Real or perceived fulfillment of a personal vendetta, e.g. revenge on abusers in the church? Honestly, I think this one is the most likely, and to the extent that many people will almost regret giving sympathy to some of the victims.
Pure lunacy?
