Bumpin this thread, because the idea is that we should be changing hip hop. My regressive transphobic bars are not productive to treating people in an appropriate manner. I think battle rap is generally bad for hip hop and for people in general. Its increases negative thinking and behavior. It doesn't lend itself to personal development beyond improving one's writing that can easily be achieved without all the negativity and hatefulness.

I made a mistake by expressing my own confusion over the trans experience in the form of making light of their often very difficult, complicated personal experiences. As a person who has been both friends and a family member to trans individuals, I really feel ashamed that I posted what I did. Its not reflective of the way we should be exploring these complicated matters, so I decided to continue the conversation with this thread.

Call me soft, call me whatever, but don't call me Frank, because that's not my name.

Just remember to treat people right, no matter what they look like or how they identify personally.
