All Star Text Tournament #1, III: Round of the Titans
All Star Text Tournament #1
-----------------------------------------------------------------
"Round of the Titans"
- (quote by Dissizit; give him the credit for typing those 4 words)
Set in the stars, we place our eyes upon such bewildering sluggers, each with a scroll betwixt their blood-stained fingers...
Okay, FUCK. THAT. SHIT.
This round is the result of two settlers; Round 1 separated the men from the boys and Round 2 separated the Titans from the men. Damn straight, that's cheesy as fuck. I had my first predictions wronged and now I have, as I'm sure everyone else does, a completely different perspective of this tournament now.
First off, well done Rhet. A well-earned victory (proving my psychic abilities): That is one champion out of the tourney and DaDDiO, o'course, taking out a title contender (in the best and closest battle of the Round by a long shot) but I was disappointed to see May ghost this tourney, I really think he could've wrecked shit if he got off on a roll.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Full Round 3 Analysis:
RhetoriKaL vs. Dissizit <-- VOTE NOW!
Going to be one of the best reads of the round. Two similar styles in terms of use of concepts and how punches are set-up, but completely different in personality and structure. I feel Rhet is becoming a wrecking ball with his concepts and wordplay, and this is surely going to be a battle of complexity: Henceforth, I feel Rhet is at the top of his calibre in this match-up.
Ticket- vs. -Mr SPLAT-
An interesting bout. Ticket's style in the previous two rounds really appealed to me; it's comical and smooth, with little emphasis on concepts, but just enough in order to squeeze out a good punch. I do believe that Splat will triumph though, if he can consistently punch throughout, he will top whatever Ticket throws at him.
ViTRiOL vs. SandMan <-- VOTE NOW!
I can't comment, of course, but I am extremely happy that I am facing him. My second battle when I got back here, when I was mad rusty, I didn't know it was snipe season, so I didn't snipe my rust off! (like a fucking idiot) So I started battling Goonies when I got there. I really was off-point in our 8 and ended up losing of course: I feel now I could really make this a closely contested bout, seeing as I prefer longer bouts, and I hope to be moving on to (DaDDiO) the next opponent.
Ohs vs. DaDDiO <-- VOTE NOW!
Now, if there's any other result other than what I predict here, that would be a legendary battle. Ohs can bring dopeness to the box now and again, but if he slacks, his punch concepts come out as sloppy. If he tightens his game up, and makes sure each punch connects, without played concepts and wordplay, he may have a chance. Otherwise, DaDDiO is THE Titan in this round.
reEFer vs. Frankie Knox
I am really looking forward to this one. Frankie has only had one round where his material was rated, as May didn't drop , and I was really feeling his verse. Had a great comic tone to it, and I am excited to read his verses because I haven't seen much of his stuff recently. Looking at the stature of each emcee overall, I would generally throw out that reEFer would win it based on punch impact and consistency, but I think this could be a close call.
GRizzEAT vs. AfterThought <-- VOTE NOW!
Can't infer a prediction, being a Goon vs. DPS battle. Certainly Grizz's hardest opponent yet, but the way he's been putting down so many personals in his previous bouts, I think his ideas have reached a point of real dope originality, and we may be seeing some really good personals from him here. Thought is a fantastic match-up for him, as he'll have an interesting contrast to Grizz's style.
Askari vs. AmBitiousFlow
One of the more anticipated of the round. Askari will hold tight with more of a structure-based style, where his punches roll out one-after-the-other, whereas Ambo has more a wavering approach to punches, where sometimes they come out unexpected, leaving the reader suddenly putting pieces together after reading a line. A great contrast of styles, whoever is more in their own zone will win this.
Olde English vs. RULE
UK Showdown. This is my most anticipated of the round, as I have liked seeing some of OE's shit since coming back for the tourney. If RULE stays put with the usual laidback, forward approach then he can win... but, if OE can drill some original concepts on top of RULE's wordplay and punch game, this may be a close one. OE needs to get all the rust off NOW.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let's look at the crew statistics now:
Dead Poets Society
Members Left: RhetoriKaL, Dissizit, Askari, AfterThought (4)
Most likely to Win the Tourney: RhetoriKaL
Goon Squad
Members Left: ViTRiOL, SandMan, AmBitiousFlow, GRizzEAT (4)
Most likely to Win the Tourney: GRizzEAT
NewEra
Members Left: Ohs, reEFer, Frankie Knox (3)
Most likely to Win the Tourney: reEFer
The Regulators
Members Left: -Mr SPLAT-, RULE (2)
Most likely to Win the Tourney: RULE
Distinct Emcee's
Members Left: Olde English (1)
Most likely to Win the Tourney: Lizman (duhhh)
Crewless Orphans
(Non)Members Left: Ticket-, DaDDiO (2)
Most likely to Win the Tourney: DaDDiO
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Semi-Finals Inference:
As I would rather watch this round boil down and see the Quarter-Finals create themselves, I will only say that this is what the semi-finals will be:
Top Bracket: RhetoriKaL vs. DaDDiO
Bottom Bracket: GRizzEAT vs. RULE
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Round of the Titans being a fitting title for this round, LB is in for a treat. And now, referring back to my spout of cheesy nonsense, this round should separate the Titans from the Demi-Gods? Okay, I've gone too far now.
Please share your opinions and predictions,
ViT.

DaDDiO is an orphan that we would love to adopt... just before the end of the final.

Full Round 3 Analysis:
RhetoriKaL vs. Dissizit DPS
Alot of love for this match up. Rhet and Diss are good friends so i can see the personals flying out all over the place, will be an awesome read. Good luck to both of you.
Ticket- vs. -Mr SPLAT-
I think SPLAT is the favourite for this battle, but Ticket shouldn't be ruled out, he's really up'd his text game for the tournament so far and don't see why he can't take it to a new level to defeat one of the favourites to win the whole thing. Think it will be close but right now my prediction is still going to stay as Mr SPLAT. Good luck.
ViTRiOL vs. SandMan
This is a really good match up. ViTRiOL always has solid bars and some nice concepts, he's also relatively slept on and shouldn't go unnoticed. SandMan has a new style which he demo'd in round 2 which is fresh and stepped away from his slightly predictable verses and gone to a new level. This will be close. Good luck.
Ohs vs. DaDDiO
NEXT.
I'm just playing i don't want to doubt anybody, Ohs you have some work to do, try prove us wrong. Good luck.
reEFer vs. Frankie Knox
This could be one of the best battles of the round, Frankie will give the Grand Champ a good run for his money and shouldn't be counted out just yet, although Reefer is sick and highly rated on the site, there's no reason Knox can't knock him out of the tourny. Saying that, reEFer is on top form and this won't be an easy win for anybody. Too close to call. Good luck.
GRizzEAT vs. AfterThought DPS
Co-sign ViTTy here. Can't infer a prediction, being a Goon vs. DPS battle. Two potential tournament winners here, Grizzy thinks he's gunna win the whole thing, and i have said from day one that AT is the underdog and could take the title. This won't be an easy win for either. Grizzle has already dropped, all i'm saying is i hope he hasn't rushed a verse and underestimated. Good luck.
Askari vs. AmBitiousFlow DPS
I rate both but think Askari is going to edge this one here, Flow won't be easy competition but with the last few battles it looks like Ask is on top form, he came back to win this thing. Good luck to you both.
Olde English vs. RULE
RULE got lucky here, he didn't want it with VVVV but really though i can't wait for this battle, RULE is the favourite for it, but i know OE can produce some serious bars when he wants to, maybe he could knock RULE off the top spot? Who knows.. Good luck to you both.
Sorry to talk about you all like you're race horses or something, but there are my predictions and opinions. I'm not predicting a winner from each round because i don't know enough about them to make a real prediction, or i just think it's going to be way to close.

Good shit vit, I've been reading the tourney battles. Thought I'd drop by for a min, so:
RhetoriKal vs Dissizit
- Rhet coming through on a huge win against UA is sure to have his confidence way high and I'd expect him to continue it through to this round. He is one of my favorites to win this tournament. Diss is dope and is no let down opponent and has been at the top of his game also. I just feel it isn't his time to shine yet, but that time will come.
Ticket- vs Mr. Splat
- Very dope battle. Don't be surprised by my pick either. Splat is a beast and everyone knows it and I am sure he is going to come with some dope bars. I feel ticket will come alot harder than his 2 battles. Just have that feeling for some reason. Looking at the rest of the predictions this will definitely be my underdog pick.
ViTRiOl Vs SandMan
- This is a tough as decision. IMO depends who brings what. I've seen Vit's bars from good to bad and same as SandMan. This battle is going to depend on who is more in the zone while writing there verse. Either one of these cats can take this. Both are coming off of close wins also. I am going to give Sand the slight edge on this one.
Ohs vs DaDDiO
-IMO this match is a given if DaDDiO shows up. I am sure Ohs will not let down at all, but in order to win against DaDDiO you have to have some outstanding shit. Better than your best. Not only is it always a surprise to see what bars Dad is bringing but if the match is anywhere close you know majority voters are going to lean with DaDDiO because of his stature on the site. This tournament could very well be in his favor to finally win one.
Reefer Vs Frankie Knox
- No doubt Frankie has bars, but lets face it in total honesty, if Mayneak would have showed up he wouldn't be in this round against Reefer. Knox will probably have a good read but I'm expecting Reefer to be way to much for him.
GRizzEAT vs AfterThought
- This is going to be another tough toss up round. Both have dope bars when they feel like it. With the way GRizz has been writing I feel he will edge this out, but in later rounds, I am still unsure if he can keep this consistancy going. If he can keep his flickering fire from being put to ash, he can come victorious.
Askari Vs AmbitiousFlow
- Flow is another one that you don't know what he is going to bring to the table and this battle all depends on that. We know what Askari is going to bring. I don't think Flow will let us down though. I feel he can edge this out.
Olde English vs RULE
- This is going to be a sick battle. Both of this contestants have some of the best bars on the site. I don't think Olde is going to be taking RULE's fire in this battle though. Going to be a tough one for both but RULE is going to come out on top.
