Battle Descriptions?
I think a certain recent battle is a good example of this caveat. I'm interested to hear what people have to say.
Do people have to adhere to battle descriptions on an openly posted battle?
I mean, if you want to have a themed battle, why not find someone who's down for it and just send to them directly? Why is it ok to post an open battle and basically demand someone follows your concept or else face an "auto L" from voters for going "off concept"?

actually i think the bigger problem is people taking an open, and ignoring the concept, cause that puts the voter in the pickle, and is unfair to the person who posted.

But that's what I mean. Why not just send it to someone direct in the first place, where you've already agreed to do the concept?

Exactly, you can’t post an open and DEMAND the person who is responding, responds to your theme. The poster had time to construct their theme, the person replying to the open does not as it is open, anyone can take it.
Nonsense. You want to do a particular type of battle, send it privately. Simple.

Is this a serious thread bro?
Why even have a battle description if people can't drop one as an open?
If you accept an open battle knowing there is a description, and you refuse to follow such description why accept it anyway?
So, yes - if you accept an open battle and don't follow the description I will automatically vote against you because you think you don't have to follow the rules.
This shouldn't even be a discussion.

You can look at it from either side though, right?
"Why accept it anyway", but also "why post it open in the first place anyway"?
I don't think it's a "rule" just because the person puts it in the description.

Why accept it to begin with?
If you post an open with a description and i drop a verse and beat you and my verse had nothing to do with the description you'd be pissed.
The description is there for a reason obviously. And if you don't have time to reply to a descriptive open drop. Maybe you shouldn't be trying to get a easy or quick snipe.

It's a description of the battle.
What they are talking about - the entire purpose of that battle is to see who is better in that descriptive category.
And you post it as an open to see who actually has the skills to quickly respond to that descriptive battle.

If you post an open, it’s open to all and any challengers. You cannot demand someone follow your theme. If you want to do a themed style battle, cool. Hit someone up so you know you’ve got one. It certainly isn’t a rule that the responder must follow the others theme. Since LB been up, you post an open, shit better be fire cause anyone can take that.

That’s the thing though, the person submitting said open has had far more time to work on their theme than the person responding to said theme, thus meaning the responder is automatically at a disadvantage.
