A lotta people felt this way about Dave Brubeck when Jazz was younger. But much the same way as with Eminem he was embraced by most of the black
Goats and pioneers and now 50 years later he’s thought of as revolutionary instead of a guest. Once the OGs like Lord Jamar start to die off and have less of a voice at the forefront, this won’t be a thing anymore. It’s not the first time a white American has been exceptional at making his own version of music that was created by African Americans.

But in all seriousness @EtH there are just some things that are just a part of a certain race of people culture based on origin and the main group of people that created it. Hip hop is primarily black culture. How is what I’m saying so extreme?

Hip hop is based in black culture. Therefore overall it’s black music. Other races had a hand in its rise and innovation. But it’s black culture regardless. Rap was made by black people but expanded upon by everyone. Enjoy it, create it, who cares what color you are, welcome to hip hop *group hug*.

Did you watch the Eminem interview fully? Eminem (the GOAT as you said) even acknowledges hip hop as black culture. It’s not about exclusion or appropriation.

But what are YOU really saying Eth? I’ll give you a point because I can’t describe white culture. I don’t experience or take part In a lot of it. I could do the predictable thing and say “metal music” or Jewish art or something but I wouldn’t know what I was talking about as far as that cause I’m just not ingrained in it even from an outsider perspective. It's the need to make everything about race. Its a music style. Just like you don't need to mention white culture when a black person makes a country song or whatever, you don't need to mention black people when Eminem raps. It's music, a medium that transcends race. Just like art, television and writing. Just because the dudes who started it were a certain colour does not mean their skin colour is the important aspect. No ones our here like "Theatre is bald dude culture" cause of Shakespeare.
