[The Ghost of Freak]

@NOBLE , this is a good thread with the recent tragedy in Michigan when a young black woman who had drunkenly crashed wandered into a suburban neighborhood to get help, but got shot in the face with a 12 gauge by a white dude thru his screen door ( reminiscent of the Trayvon Martin case.) The dude is being charge with murder by DA, due to no proof of forced entry or threat to the guy.

I think most gun owners, and even NSA members, agree that required background checks for most (if not all) guns is a good thing, and not an unreasonable violation of our Constitutional freedoms.

As others have mentioned, criminals are going to get firearms regardless of regulation due to huge availability in the blackmarket, but that does not mean they should be legally sold to whomever with no background check.

I think minimal regulation of background checks clearly prevents guns from being easily bought by younger people and mentally ill people who might be dangerous if given a firearm.
