College Majors - Lets Beef

Alright, i've been looking into colleges and stuff now, I have a bit to go but am looking to become a guidance counselor. Although, I do want other options.. whats the best things to major in when in college? I do want to be a guidance counselor, but I hear the pay isn't so well depending on who or where you are.

The pay for being a guidance counselor is bad pretty much across the board. If you're looking to get rich it's definitely not the route to take.

Pretty much everything in the "social work" type realm is pretty low paying, mainly because there's so many people that study it.

Personally, i'm majoring in philosophy and minoring in creative writing. It leaves you with soo many door that you could easily pass through for a comfortable living. That being said, i'm going straight through for my masters, then PHD once I get a stable job teaching.

Philosphy and creative writing are both extremely hard job markets. There's not jobs for a philosophy major. You can basically just do the jos that are open for anyone with a bachelor's.

But I guess you plan on doing a PHD and teaching, which makes sense. That's the only viable way to do anything with a philosophy degree.

i major in Accounting and minor in Business Administration but the best field to major in is Computer Science... i would say nursing too but i know a ton of people that's majoring in that... so im not sure of the job market... but the Computer Science field is pretty broad and they get paid good money... and it's on the rise for years to come as technology advances...
