Corona Virus Part 2
So it looks like this is about to a full blown pandemic. We haven't had a Pandemic since the Spanish Flu. That killed about 2% of the world right after the first WW. Sars,MERS, Ebola and Zika were only epidemics the difference is a Pandemic is no longer containable on a global level.
I live in the Middle East pretty scared honestly. I've been stocking up on food and water the last few days and have decided to impose a little quarantine on my household. Monday my country had 1 case up to 7 now. January 29 South Korea had their first case they are over 3000 now. So 3000 cases in 30 days is probably the rate it will spread if not faster considering how advanced South Korea's medical system is compared to the rest of the world.
Be careful friends. Things are about to get really crazy.

Thought about this yesterday. I live in Dallas, TX and we've had 6 cases but each of the 6 people are currently quarantined. I believe they're issuing a mandatory check whenever anyone flies in from the infected areas of the world. That's how they detected the 6 that were infected and quarantined them.
I'm sorry you're going through it bro. I hope everything works itself out. Because you're right it is scary af.

Back here in India (as per the version of few of the stranded survivors who were airlifted from China) the news/assumptions (i am not sure) is that the virus has affected at least a million people if not more there. Either way it is definitely something to be real careful of.

It's spreading pretty fast, and 70% of us will likely catch it at some point. But it also has a 98% survival rate. It's mostly older people who will die from it. It's scary only because it is new and emerging, and you never know what it can mutate into, but as it currently stands, the common common cold (which is also a corona virus) is more deadly than COVID-19.

Except there is an actual vaccine for flu? Flu doesn't get 14% of seniors who get it. The list goes on.
I had a relative visit from the US 10 days ago. We all ended up getting the Flu from her and pretty sure she got it on the plane. From her to me to my baby to my aunt and than my 80 year old grandma. That was a real wake up call for me.
I suggest you guys stock up at least on water. The US has just reported it's first death and a fucking Creationist wack job is in charge of the virus response.
I would suggest everyone follow Dr John Campell on youtube he's very informed about the virus and does daily updates.
Also if you can find a drug called Chrolonique Phosphate buy some. It has stopped inflammation in patients blocking the virus from turning into pneumonia which is the deadly part of it.
I doubt i'll leave the house much untiul around March 20 which is when Spring will hopefully be in full force in the temperature hampers virus spread.
Anyone telling you it's just another Flu strain is a moron. Earliest we can expect a vaccine is 2021 be prepared.

The scary thing about this virus is the need for an extended ICU stay in quite a few cases. Once these beds fill up they will be hard to come by and that will ream a lot of the pretty numbers we have been given.

But the flu kills infinitely more people, at a quicker rate. Just because you've had the flu doesn't mean that mammoth amounts of people die from it every year.

Do some research bro. This will be declared a Pandemic within 30 days. No vaccine for atleast a year. The world we know is about to get a haircut. You are Irish if I recall correctly come back in 30 days an tell me this isn't as scary as the flu.
Just google coronavirus and flu differences NYTimes just had a pretty good article on it.
I would advise all of you stay away from crowds and try to prepare canned goods at home for if shit goes nuclear.
Forbes is saying the panic buying and market drops alone are enough to push us to the brink of Apocalypse. Add in a virus we know nothing about.
Only good news is China has decreasing number of new cases that means it can be contained but that isn't likely.

The virus itself isnt that scary. It's the infection rate. If the hospital beds are suddenly full of scared people with flu symptoms guess what happens when Gary down the street has a mild heart attack and cant get a hospital bed in a timely manner. Its gonna effect more than just those infected.
