Run on fields and or sand then, should take away the pain on the shins as the surface underneath will give way more than solid concrete or a treadmill.

Haha... So the opponent only has to run round the ring for 20mins and then whale on you in the last five, simple lol.
Lots of toe taps do help though, as it's the tendons in that area that need work. Of course, like anything, don't over do it or you'll fuck yourself up rightly.
