@NOBLE , The goal should be to communicate that inflicting pain is not okay and will be responded to accordingly without actually hurting the women. No man should ever really hurt a woman unless its a life or death situation (As was discussed about being attacked with a deadly weapon.)

Unfortunately I have had some experience with this kind of situation. The trick is to retaliate in a less strong manner than they hit you, so you still get the message across that you are not going to hurt them or use 100% strength because if you did they would actually be hurt and lose.

IN OTHER WORDS, they punch you ... you slap them back (not as hard as they hit you obviously, because some girls hit really hard). They should know that you could have knocked them out, but instead controlled yourself (as a man in that situation should) to make a point that their initial behavior was unacceptable and would not be tolerated.
