Top 10 Greatest Rappers All Time
Generic as fuck thread, but I was originally making a topic about something else and I was like "I've mentioned how shit used to be when I joined LB like 10 times....is it still the same?". Sure, this thread has been made a million times, but has it been made recently? LB isn't full of dudes from way back when anymore. Are you really gonna see Big Pun mentioned on many lists with the current guys on LB?
I'm kicking this off because I was listening to a podcast with some rappers and they talked about how Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne and Andre 3000 were the greatest rappers of all time. 3 respected guys, but this is a conversation of greatest rappers of all time and not a single mention for guys like 2pac or Big L who rounded out every list I'd ever seen on LB.
So where's everyone at? Has the dynamic changed on here? I feel fuck all of us even talk about rap music anymore around here.

This is a tough one for me. If it was on all-round talent as an artist, Kanye would be at or around the top of my list and Dr. Dre would be high up there too, but purely as emcees they don't make it. I don't feel strongly about the order of most of these guys, but I guess my list would be:
1. Eminem
2. Rakim
3. 2Pac
4. Biggie
5. Nas
6. Ice Cube
7. Jay-Z
8. Immortal Technique
9. André 3000
10. Kendrick Lamar

A Top 10 is nearly impossible for me, I've listened to so many dope rappers I realized I cant narrow it down to 10 because so many slots are interchangeable
Eminem
Pac
Nas
Jay-Z
Big L
Rakim
Kool G Rap
AZ
Andre 3000
Kendrick Lamar
Could easily make another Top 10 with Royce da 5'9", AZ, Big Daddy Kane, Tech N9ne, Crooked I, Talib Kweli etc

wow, i mean these are all pretty horrible lol. em has like 10 shitty cd's himself. all these guys extremely simple lyrically, not gifted writers. andre 3000 is dope, but i wouldn't say a top ten rapper.

I guess that's pretty dependent on what you value in lyrics. People like Pac and Em have tracks where the entire song is a metaphor, Immortal Technique raps about economic and political systems that cause systemic poverty in Latin America and outlines ways to fix the issues, Biggie's flow and verbal dexterity is imo possibly the greatest of any artist ever, Nas does shit like rap from the perspective of a gun, and I think all of those things require a great deal of giftedness as a writer.
