Should we make LB an 18+ website?

The legal issue may be debateable. Like.. Idk, places like here at least... The age of consent is 16, but the legal drinking age is 18. I knowyour guys' age of consent is 18 with the drinking age being 21. Sooo idk. May vary depending on what end of the world? I havent read anything about the issue though other then the thread.

That does make sense.. But shit like this .. In the grand scheme of things.. Is a rap battle website. Members like Suspie posting porn, is the members doing it. You got muhfuckas on IG and Facebook doing the same thing. And god dont get me started on Snapchat lmfao, I knoe they have age restrictions.. But theyre like 14, 15 or something, and have a much higher risk of having pornographic content and pedophilic members then Letsbeef does. Sure we got Suspie and Gooch. But we dont have random men messaging every girl on the site like "Send bobs and vagane" ya know? I feel like LB would be safe from legal action

Sure, that's all true to some degree, even though I don't necessarily agree with the dismissal toward LB. But, this still doesn't address data collection(Which is still a separate issue to the aforementioned initial points). As previously stated by yourself, those examples of other social media all have an age VERIFICATION(even if they are lax on their RESTRICTIONS) to determine who the children are at the very least.

(As a side note, the private messaging system DOES allow pictures, even if the IM doesn't.)

Well I didn't know it allowed pictures. Just shatteredthat part of my arguement lmfao. And whats your solution? Requiring people to post their age? Or strictly bar people under the age of 18? The latter seems like itskinda over kill. Shit Ive been rapping sinceI was 14. If I knew about LB, Id have improved a hell of a lot faster.

Well, personally, I'm an advocate of making the site an entirely 18+ userbase. Not only because of the potential issues with data collection, but, because of the international age of consent. That aside, though, AT THE VERY LEAST, if making the site 18+ isn't feasible(I believe it is feasible.), I'd posit the inclusion of an age verification system, similar to all other social media. The mandatory inclusion of your birth date(which can be privatized).

Sure, a person who is sixteen will be more mature than a person who is thirteen. I agree with that. But, you're viewing it only from that perspective in regard to pornography, and from the viewpoint of the minor. To again add some exposition to the adult side of this context, in the U.S. it is a federal crime to expose a minor to pornographic material(even if this is an unintentional act, like posting it on a forum, and a young passerby happens to see it.). It falls into the realm of "criminal obscenity." So, even if a younger member isn't phased by this sort of post, there are stark potential ramifications for an adult member in this situation. A lot of the written material here may fall into this category as well(I'm not 100% on written material meeting the criteria for criminality in this case, so take this last point with a grain of salt.), and may additionally be seen as obscene in the eyes of the law.

All of the aforementioned aside, though, I still think the more pressing issue is in regard to privacy, and the data collection of minors, and how this may create backlash against the site as a whole, as opposed to on the individual basis of membership. There has to be some way to determine who is a minor, in order to prevent the collection of data from them from the site.
