Most of those are "Just throw more money at it. That'll probably fix it." I don't understand the Progressive mind at all. "NCLB isn't working. Must be because it doesn't have enough money." Does the fact that it's absolutely fucktarded beyond belief just completely escape you people or what? If a school is doing bad you don't take it's money away to punish it. You go in and you find out what the actual issue is and you address it. Bad teachers? Fire them (But good luck with that since even fucking Kindergarten teachers have tenure after five years). Out of date text books? Replace them. Kids are dropping out? It's probably because you aren't giving them any real reason to stay. This isn't a difficult concept. I don't know why you would possibly think the school situation is getting better in this country. It's gone completely to shit. Oh, and all that economic booming during Clinton's administration had nothing to do with him. That was a tech boom and the .com bubble. You're right. There are checks and balances when it comes to legislation. The President has absolute control over the executive branch though which can essentially create law on it's own through regulations. If the EPA wants to make it illegal to do something because it's "bad for the environment" they can basically just do that. The President runs the CIA, EPA, ATFE, FBI, NSA, NTA, ICE, etc etc. All of these organizations can come down on the American people like a hammer and there wouldn't be a whole lot Congress could do about it because even with their oversight they can only do so much. Obama tells Holder not to prosecute he doesn't prosecute. He directs Immigrations not to deport illegal aliens, or like he did recently, release a bunch of convicted criminals that are here illegally and that happens. The president has a LOT of control. The Executive Branch has become incredibly far reaching with it's alphabet soup of agencies that all answer to the White House.
