I'm not trying to argue that there isn't a case to be made for calling the cops, or that it's wrong to, but closure isn't a good argument.

The point of the police, and the main problem with the police is that their job is not to find out who did the murder, or why it was done, or anything like that. Their job is simply to clear the case. They will charge anybody and anybody that they think they can get a conviction on, and whether you did or didn't do it really doesn't matter. Calling the police doesn't result in closure, it results in conviction.

I'm not saying people shouldn't call the police, that's a personal decision. I'm saying closure isn't really a good reason.
