I feel both emcees have shyed away from what we are use to.Nas was notorious to hold down the east coast making hit after hit, while eminem was the same in the midwest.Personally now and before id give it to nas hands down

Nas is sick lyrically he's creative and complex beyond the regions of hip hop, i don't know much about em, i never got into him, i have heard songs like "Stan", "love the way you lie", his song with Dr.Dre the one where they are trying to convince people to do the right/wrong thing, "Forever" and i heard his battle with Canibus. lyrically i say Em is nice but i don't see why he's held in such high regards and i would never compare him to Nas. can you guys recommend some song where Em is going in with no mercy, i'm not downing him, he has just never blown my mind like Canibus or Nas, when you listen to Canibus and nas you automatically know these dude are intellectual they incorporate science and current events into sick flows and lyrical methods beyond comparison, i can't yet say that about Em,

Exactly.
Nas is just a lyrical genious, hands down. Not hating on em, he's pretty nice too.. just saying I'd prefer to listen to nas.

I'd say Em in a battle, although he did win Freestyle's not Writtens, and if you watch 8 mile, you think 'Does this guy know that half of these punches suck?'.
NaS is a better rap artist though. Despite the fact that he made ridiculously creative concepts for songs, but he is still prime. People say he fell off, but thats just because you dont hear of him much. Listen to Distant Relatives. Besides Del's free album thing, thats the best album of 2010.

You're putting Muhammad Ali up against bruce lee son.... That's two epic niggas fighting....
Eminem - Skill, immaculate rhyming, mic presence, veteran.... Unmatchable artist...
Nas - Metaphoric mastermind, beast with life lyrics...flow....veteran also an unmatchable artist...
These two are two different rappers on different mindsets built for totally opposite style of Rap IMO, it's clearly obvious. Eminem would prolly beat him? Maybe not? But Eminem and Nas ain't built for battle rapping... that's a whole different league... naddimean?

I agree with most of your comment, you made some good points the only thing that bothers me is when you nas isn't built for battle rapping, i can see why one may think this because he doesn't have that battle rap persona, he's more of a poet, but listening to battles he has been in, mainly the one with jay-z i say nas is versatile enough to battle rap but nevertheless Em has the battle rap persona he's like a mad man but when you compare line to line bar to bar, i have to give it to Nas lyrically.

Rap music is entertainment at the end of the day, not english class!
In that regard eminem slaughters all with ''the slim shady lp'' and ''the marshall mathers lp'', not to mention how nice he is with the flow and multi syllables. He just IS alot more entertaining than Nas and Canibus put together if you ask me, songs like 'Brain Damadge' ....'Kill You'... 'Kim' 'Drugz Are Bad'....'Way I Am'... 'Still Dont Give A Fuck'.... 'My Fault!!!' Theres too many classics to name, i cud go on all day, i grew up listning to this.
Modern day eminem is NOTHING compared to his 1st shit, royce MURDERS him on Bad Meets Evil.
Eminem-Criminal ........ If that aint RAP ENTERTAINMENT at its finest please show me sumthin better!!!

I never said hip hop was an English class but when you call a person lyrical superior what is that based on, their ability to display a complex vocabulary unparalleled to any other rapper, so i think, English has allot to to with that i may be wrong but lyrics are what makes a difference between a rapper like master p and a rapper like Jay-z, I'll check out those songs you mentioned and if i here different i will be a man and come back and say i was wrong but as i see it lyrically em is not touching nas and could never see canibus if you compare bar to bar line to line verse to verse
