I grew up playing and watching football. I had trials at United. You do know that Football isn't only about how many goals you score? (Which is silly anyway considering the amount Ronaldo scores in the first place)

I talk to die hard old time city fans and even they admit Ronaldo is the better more versatile player. To deny that is what's really crazy.

Messi has been surrounded by world class players in the same team who perform constantly and carry their fair share of the weight for the whole of his career.

Ronaldo has had to carry teams single handedly in multiple line ups and leagues.

Every man and his dog had trials at "insert Premier League team" when they were a kid. Every football commentator, pundit etc. always puts Messi above Ronaldo, for a good reason. I don't really care to get into a debate about it though.
