I agree with your points on an invasive government and hate being a part of the current surveillance state, but I'm not sure if I care so much about biometrics. I have had my fingerprints on record for numerous things. I think lots of people do. Maybe I'm missing something but I was under the impression that the majority of adults had their fingerprints in the database already for one reason or another.
I origionally went in the system when I got in trouble with the law but my current job required fingerprinting as well.
Not to say that it isn't disturbing how readilly they can gather intel on us, but this upsets me less than many other government practices.
