Not true; suffragettes in the early 1900's, KKK, panthers, IRA etc were all described as terrorists.
This isn't the government, this is an organised group, but it could quite easily be white supremacists/neo nazis eg Norway, a psychopath eg sandy hook/Colorado theatre, the KKK even. I just sincerely hope America don't just to any conclusions and pin it on anyone without sufficient evidence (Korea, for example).

Jason I see your point, but it seems too organised to be a group of psychos; those types of attacks tend to be alone and one-off incidents. This screams terror organisation to me. Patriot Day in Boston too if I'm not mistaken?
As for potentially hitting some of their own; as far as terrorists go I don't think that concerns them too much; a kind of "you have to break a few eggs" type thing.
This is all speculation though, here's hoping that's an end to it for now. We'll find out who's behind it soon enough.
