i would actually start out with 7, keeping it an odd number as recruitments go up to possibly not have the results of even amount of votes. a good solid 7 accurate votes can get the respectable battles the view time they need.

(yes, this is subject to all classes of battles: rookies, mid-weight, heavyweight, vets, etc)
