Thats bullshit.
NaS is obviously staying in his comfort zone. I think if he REALLY wanted to make a big hit, and become more successful than he already is, then he could.
But IMO, he doesn't lower himself to make music that has been diluted and tampered with. Nobody has freedom of speech anymore.

The thing is he ALREADY tried to be a commercially successful rapper and put out radio hits, and he was nowhere near as successful as Jay Z was, every album between Illmatic and Stillmatic was him attempting to find radio success. And for all the talk about him being more lyrical than Jay Z, Jay Z has 3 classic albums(at a shit more near classic albums) Nas only has 1.

Well that's the mainstream rappers of today.
Nas came out when music was real. He sees that hip hop is dead. Even nas himself is not as hot as he use to be.
Why is this? Cuz hip hop has lost it's soul and its hunger and it is up to the new generation to fix that. Those who are 20+ they have already lost it. Sorry to say but you will not be like what is about to happen in 2012. (I predicted a long time ago (6 years ago) that a new wave of real artist will come up out that slums on this earth. They will disguise themselves as kids but they are actually gods to this rap game. They will be around 15-19 years of age.)

You're Crossing The Line Between Partly Making Sense And Insanity
I Am Quite Sure That NaS Could Copy The Business Sense Of Jigga The Fallen Off Nigga To Make Boundless More Money But I Doubt He Would Want To Do That (In The Same Way Anyways)

Nas never tried to be a commercial success like that w/ radio hits. EVERY rapper has to put out a song to get them some sort of a buzz or attention. Maybe Nas did want the big bucks from Oochie Wally but the intent was to get him on TV/radio enough so that people could familiarize themselves with him.
How many times has he tried after that to be a commercial success? Think about it. He put a few songs like Oochie Wally and got his name out, One Mic was more of a real song than anything, & I remember that song being huge when the video came out. Nas Is Like music video was again, not an attempt at making a hit, it was just real rap with a real music video.
What's stopping Nas from hitting up Swizz Beats or Kanye for a catchy ass beat so he can make a hit? Certainly not the money, he has more than enough money to get w/e the fuck he wants from w/e producer, i'm sure.
It's his self respect and loyalty to his fan base to put out the shit HE WANTS and the shit his core fan base wants.

Talent, he could go get a catchy beat, but he doesn't have the skill to make a #1 hit like Hov does.
