Based on these criteria, I prefer Eminem, because his best songs display a higher level of (what I consider to be) lyrical talent than Wayne's best songs. Of course, not everyone will agree with me on this, so it comes back to personal preference.
What are some examples of Em's lyrical talent?

Em has some great punchlines but they're not as lyrical as other rappers. He spits mostly about real life which is cool.

My point exactly. I'm not saying Wayne is good, just that he's lyrically better than Eminem. Eminem has really great flow but like you said, it doesn't mean much if your lyrics are average.

Maybe the singles weren't substance-wise the best but technically and lyrically Eminem has always brought fire. You've got to look at the rest of the album too, don't just judge by the singles.
Where can i check out Em's lyrical fire?

Kinda disagree. Lil Wayne also raps about real life as well. "Pray to the Lord" is just one example. Wayne can rap about more things that Eminem can't unless he wants to ruin his image.

Really interesting article:

On the other hand, if Wayne and Em got in a rap battle: Em would OBLITERATE Wayne's career out of this world. There'd be no way Wayne could come to the living after that LOL!
