Liking his songs <> Legend status.

In terms of impact, what has he done? He hasen't changed or revolutionised anything. I understand that he's just sticking to his own style and doing his own thing, but name some legends that never dramatically changed the rap game forever. None.

Well back on a more serious note..

He hasn't had an impact, but I still think he's working his way up to legend status. Idc if he hasn't broken 500k on his first week, Idc if he's not on the radio everyday, listen to the lyrics in the song. It's just, wow. Finally, somebody with decent media attention is actually spitting some political shit besides Nas. And Lupe is young and has the advantage that a lot of teenage emos love his music so his voice'll definitely hit more ears than Immortal Technique trying to do some political shit, or another revolutionary. I listen to a Soulja Boy song, and feel dumb. I listen to "Words I Never Said" and it awakens you as to whats going on, if you werent already aware

Tbh, I think that's the downside of Lupe. To me, Lupe writes his stuff like I would write a topical. In topicals, I personally hate two things, which to me act as a text battles da feet line; Politics and Religion. Speaking about government corruption and conspiricies is so played out. Shit even Paris was slow on meeting the topic. To me, he is just in a long list of guys who have done it, although he is by far the best at it. I would like to see him keep the same lyrical side and metaphores but mix the topics up so he can show that he is not just being generic.

He won't be a legend, and never will be, and that's because music today doesent accomodate him making an impact. If Lil Wayne is in the top 3 rappers of the decade for impact and status, then Lupe will never be a legend, and shouldn't want to be.

Any R&B song that has to do about love or sorrow = played.

Any rock song that has to do about partying and drugs = played

Any country song that tells a story = played

If you compare the amount of topics covered across every genre of music and look at the few that are political, this is far from played. Plus, educating the public can never get played. Unless of course he talks about 9/11 in every fucking song, but he doesn't. He touches lightly on a bunch of topics
