The best idea LB hasn't implemented yet

I suggested this idea like 5-6 yrs ago, and have suggested it at least twice since then. So for a 4th/5th and hopefully last time

A virtual currency or the ability to purchase Emcee items would be dope. And seeing as how the forums are dead, it'd be VERY wise to implement a virtual currency where people earn $$ based on starting threads, replying to threads, voting on polls, etc etc. That currency could also be the credits system LB is already utilizing. But considering mods can change credit values on accounts and some people are sitting on 10,000 credits, I believe an entirely separate virtual currency thing would work better.

So for example;

Starting a thread - 2 vc
Replying to a thread - 3 vc
Voting on a poll - 1 vc

vc being virtual currency, since it doesnt have a name

And maybe give bonus vc for milestones; ie

Replied to 3 threads in a day - +5 extra vc
Started 5 threads in the month - +10 extra vc
50 posts in a month - +20 vc

The vc is used to buy cosmetic shit like emcee items, or a forum 'Shop' where you can buy customizations for your account... ie; bigger pictures for avi, glowing username, more inbox room, and maybe even LB credits

Now given that people are getting 1-3 vc per task (excluding bonuses), emcee items shouldn't be 20vc, but they shouldn't be 2,000vc either. So maybe 200vc for a common item, 500vc for a rare item, 500vc for glowing username, 100vc for 10 credits, etc

I've seen this system work successfully on at least 10 other forums. So it's not a matter of "is this possible" cuz it is, or "will this work" because it does.

It's a good idea, but I'd make it more focused around battling than forum posting. The forums are a secondary experience, the primary is battling. We want to implement features that encourage people to battle, perform better verses etc.

You can do both, but it's important to integrate the shit into the forums so that there's incentive to contribute to them. Which gets people involved and makes the site look more active and increases visibility in search engines based on the keywords searched


No forum = no site. People weren't saying LB was making a comeback off of seeing people battle. People started saying LB was making a comeback after seeing an increase in forum activity

As as far as implementing the feature into battling

Starting a battle - 5vc
Responding to a battle - 4vc

Starting a cypher - 3vc
Joining the cypher - 3vc

etc etc. And to incentivize ppl to do crew battles, you could give out a ridiculous amount of VC for people that start/join crew battles.

etc etc etc these are basic examples you obviously decide the payout structure yourself but this is definitely one of the best ways to give people an incentive to do shit. It turns LB into a game in the sense that there's actually attainable shit and prizes for people that participate in forums and battles

I agree with Godbody on this one. Whilst on the face of things the forums might seem secondary or less important. The decline of the site showed very much so how important forum activity is. The regular posters were the last ones to leave the site. I think that battling brings people to the site, community (forums, chatbox etc.) is what keeps them here.

I really like this idea though. However I think if it's going to be done it can't be half-baked (like the previous credit store).

I agree with Godbody on this one. Whilst on the face of things the forums might seem secondary or less important. The decline of the site showed very much so how important forum activity is. The regular posters were the last ones to leave the site. I think that battling brings people to the site, community (forums, chatbox etc.) is what keeps them here.
