The Crew Situation (phase 2)

This is a long read, if you don't want to spend 7 minutes reading something that could lead to a real change in this place instead of stagnation & shallow bitching... then fair enough, click off now. But if you want a better letsbeef, at least consider reading & posting your thoughts, but most importantly TAKING ACTION below. I also made every other block of text colored to make it easier on the eyes.

To begin, I'd like to sincerely thank @Godbody for bringing this up (I know it was brought up before, but I've never seen it so this is a new concept for at least me.) I've become super fucking interested in pushing this movement, and I think others will be inclined to feel the same as well.



The bad thing about all of our ideas that just keep getting recycled and recycled as different people bring them up over the years, is that often only one or two dudes has the drive to push it to completion. We don't need to bitch about the people who run this place. FUCK the people who run this place, owners don't even exist anymore. We are the only people keeping this place afloat. Seriously, right now, any single person who is reading this holds more power over letsbeef.com than the ones who actually pay for the servers. Who cares if that's sad, or if that shouldn't be the case, because right now its reality and only we can change that shit.

So to end this hype up talk that all of us should already know, this is The Crew Situation.

At any given times there are no more than 3 good crews on letsbeef.com. That's terrible, we all know it, but until now its just been a reality to do absolutely nothing about it, & maybe two or three dudes to bitch about it every now and then. But I think it's time to fuck around & shake LB to its core, if certain heads in this bitch left their respective crews to begin more, smaller, elevation based crews we could easily turn this place back into the beef ridden, hate-filled battleground it used to be. OR into a breeding ground for intellectual thought and progressive elevation. It's literally up to us. Think of letsbeef.com as a building that fell a long time ago, but people loved that building so much they put tents on the front lawn. We've been living in tents for a hella long time cunts, and we can mold the new foundation into any-fucking-thing we want! We could literally change this website into a My little pony fanfiction centre if we all put our minds to it, that's how much power individual users have these days. We've forgotten how much impact a single person can cause, and that's fucking sad.

What I personally think users should do? Begin crews with the intent of intense elevation, as with the multitude of crews that will be here if this movement really does pop off talent will be sparring. The reason shit is going like it is right now is because there isn't an overflow of talent on here, granted, there's quite a bit of amazing artists reading this sentence right now, there isn't an overabundance of them. Because of this we basically just create crews with the intent to have all dope writers flock over to our ranks because that's the only system we've known. It's the only system that works with minimal work in an environment like this, with what I said about the influx of talent above.

Another thing that could severely benefit this movement is getting staff on our side. Staff has legitimately never been on the side of regular, every-day users since I joined this place. Everyone, including me, just has spite & complaints towards them. Now, with this new movement, I personally think its time to recognize staff as people who can help change this place, alongside us. So to any single staff member reading this, consider personally messaging or IM'ing a higher unit of staff about maybe granting small amounts of exclusive to whoever creates a crew (then having that not be able to be done again for lets say 3 months, so that abusing this system isnt a factor.) Or perhaps creating a new Emcee award dedicated to those who are actively trying to bring this place back. Anything you can think of to help this movement is positive, and your personal message, your IM, or just your thoughtful post on a thread can be the aiding factor towards jumpstarting this movement.

Shit isn't about being a selfish leader of a dope crew anymore. Shit isn't about undying loyalty to an old brand anymore. Shits about either diving off of this ship & swimming until your arms fall off to find an island to rebuild on, or being content with death & letting it go under. it's your choice fam, but I for one would like to at least ATTEMPT to swim before that last little bit of mast fades into the depths.

So please, for the sake of this community we all love, consider being a part of the only real change this place has faced in years.

But realistically, its A lot of big Crews w/ ALOT OF INACTIVE MEMBERS. One thing that should be implemented is If Someone Hasn't Logged On in 1-2 months them she should be kicced from the crew with the promise of a return invite when active again.

That would help Size too.

New guy here, so I don't know shit. But from that perspective I'd say that it isn't really enough just to break up the crews so that you have more around. What you'd then need to do is have a structured plan for getting the crews to battle each other. Off the top of my head you could do a round robin and then have the top 4 crews go into knockout tournament to crown a champion. Once the tournament has finished, then you can let teams shuffle and kick the whole thing off again.

If that's already a thing then ignore me.

New guy here, so I don't know shit. But from that perspective I'd say that it isn't really enough just to break up the crews so that you have more around. What you'd then need to do is have a structured plan for getting the crews to battle each other. Off the top of my head you could do a round robin and then have the top 4 crews go into knockout tournament to crown a champion. Once the tournament has finished, then you can let teams shuffle and kick the whole thing off again.

If that's already a thing then ignore me.
