Cop Killer vs. Fuck The Police.

Which of these songs had a bigger impact, socially, on both those who listened to it, and as a general populous? And why?

I vote for "Fuck The Police" simply because I feel people have more of a distaste of the law enforcement more than what they have a feeling for killing police officers (my opinion is subject to change if the future takes a dramatic turn for the worst).

B.) They're BOTH about killing police, and both address the same tensions between people of color and the L.A. police department at the time.

I chose "Fuck The Police" , because for me it is much more memorable lyrically... one of the few songs I probably can recall word-for-word with my shit memory.

I also feel like "Cop Killer" is more of a punk song than it is hip hop.... while Fuck the Police continued to define the evolving genre @Rant .

Well given that one inspired the other it's pretty obvious that "Fuck Tha Police" had a more social impact. Plus "Cop Killer" is a good song but half of it is about killing cops with no real reason and the other half lists the reasons but doesn't really go in depth.

While, yes, Fuck The Police /did/ inspire Cop Killer, that only details the impact of Fuck The Police on Ice-T, not necessarily the backlash/impact each had on an external forum. I don't mean this to be just about the listeners of each. I'm talking about a more encompassing notion. Things like political regard, reactionary regard, etc. This is a solid answer, though. Just like the above.(Excluding Lockhart, who has never listened to either, apparently. Lol.)
