It helps in the end, if you battled someone absolutely terrible, and he had more votes than you by people who don't vote in a fair and educated manner, and you had the majority of the good voters, with the higher vp, you would get the win. Hence the reasoning of VP.

He had more Vp than you did, and thats what decides the winner. Each member starts off with 2 vp, and based on how well they vote, it can be raised or lowered. Mods have 6 vp, and members of the FVC usually have 4.
