Fuck this is a bitch of a battle to vote on. In my sign-up post I said it was easy to vote on a one-bar and y'all just had to go and prove me wrong in the first round smh... anyway, I'm gonna rant for a while about what I like and dislike for each bar then hopefully come to a decision.

korvus: Your multies don't really rhyme for me or in any accent I've heard, but it seems very plausible that they could rhyme because they're spelt quite similarly so I was willing to buy these multis. As far as the wording and structure goes I think this is pretty right too. You got the spacing between setup and multis right here so that it felt like it flowed well, which imo is deceptively important in a one-bar. The punch itself is an original concept; I think you could have done more with this if you'd taken a while to think about what more there is to the topic though.

Shodan: Exactly the same as with korvus, these multies just do not work for me but they seem really plausible so I was willing to buy them here. Structure wise I think the bar is well put-together on a macro level, and I think the punch itself is unique, original and completely unexpected. However, I have two issues with it. Firstly, I don't think that your bar is really about the composition of juries. What I mean by that is that "gauging the case" is the role of juries, it is the activity juries perform, but it doesn't really relate to their composition. Even the 12 bit more relates to their size than their composition. Normally I wouldn't point something like this out but you know you deserve it. Secondly though, and this bit weighs much more heavily on me, is that I actually don't think your punch really punches at your opponent much here. I get that your angle is basically "I'll meet you carrying guns and then shoot you", but then the punchline itself is focussing on the "carrying guns" bit and not the "shoot you" bit. I think one of the most crucial elements of a one-bar battle is that you typically have a single punch, and so it is absolutely vital that that punch directly deals as much damage to your opponent as possible. The issue here is that your punch describes a situation, which would be great in setting up a powerful narrative in a 16 or 32 (or possibly even 8), but it only serves as a glancing blow if that in a 1-bar.

What I've just said makes my job extremely hard. Shodan's punch was a markedly better bar than korvus's, largely because it was deeply creative and a really cool concept that I would never see coming (whereas I think that although trypophobia is a cool concept korvus took a pretty direct and intuitive approach with it). However, in terms of an actual punch I think Shodan's only partially hits korvus. So it's like a really powerful glancing blow against an averagely strong direct hit. I think this could go either way; I have my winner by a whisker.

I feel Korvus was more complex with his creativte/thoughtful, but Shodan's was presented better and was a bit more conceptually-sound. Vote concealed, great punches guys.

Not bad from both but I've got Shodan winning. His punch had more impact with simple, straightforward execution.

This is a very solid one bar battle. Both had good bars with relevant set ups. The more I really thought about it though, I found shodan's set up to be a bit stretchd out and far fetched (carrying a BOX of shotguns). I did enjoy Shodan's mini-WP, and it was a very creative line that was better than most lines I've read in this tourney so far, but I actually think concept-wise korvus surprised big here. A nice, fresh, well-executed bar. Got this edging out to korvus, fairs in.

Shodan took this with the cleaner execution of a simpler but more effect concept, with the inclusion of some of the other technical aspects of crafting a bar such as the use of oronyms.

Im not gonna lie i thought Korvus had the better punch here imo, both were creative but i enjoyed korvus' punch more, even though the rhyming was kinda off in my accent at least. 7-7

Tough one honestly but I think one was too much of a reach wording wise which edged this the other way. Felt like both lacked w the concepts but one stood out more than the other.

Got Shodan winning this round for having more complex wordplay, and a better set-up.

Felt Korvus’s set-up could've been better, which hurt the punch the most, but the concept was alright.

However, I felt that the rhyming on both sides was lacking, so I'll do a break down of each syllable.

Moss-Is-Ins-Tant-Ly-Bur-Sting

Comp-O-Si-Tion-Of-Jur-Ies

As we see here the only rhymes in the bar are half-rhymes, and some of them are scattered across the syllables (Si-Is).

Same thing with Korvus

Quick-Dis-Pos-In-Your-Corpse

Tryp-A-Pho-Bi-A-Works

Neither are broken, but both could use improvements.

Shodan lost because he used wack ass uncreative guns bars especially (12-gauge wordplay) in 2020. Tired of hearing about 12 gauges because I hear about them so much OFF of letsbeef and my personal feelings for a extremely popular topic in the world such as a 12-gauge shotgun just makes me hate this bar a lot so for that reason alone his bar sucked. Shit dont even make any sense either.

Korvus had a consistent bar. Had to google trypophobia tho' ..after that I felt the bar cane along quite nice.

Shodan had a nice concept but you said the moss is instantly bursting but the 12 gauge is in the case..so how is it bursting if it's still in the case?? Still was creative but just out of order..

fairs in

After thinking it over I'm giving this to Korv for overall creativity. There were no nit picky flaws to point out in this battle. Solid on both sides but the case angle I've see before (shodan). Not exactly played the way you took it but I just felt Korvs bar was more left field.
