I've heard that there had been house robberies at that time. If someone just robbed a house in your neighborhood, they'd be walking around wearing a hoodie and not carrying any items they may have taken but a pack of Skittles?

What exactly was Trayvon doing to "act suspicious" other than wearing a hoodie?
If there has been a string of robberies in your neighbourhood, and the police refused to answer your requests, as neighbourhood watch he'd feel compelled to make sure the guy he suspected didn't run away.

According to Zimmerman, he was standing around, staring at houses. This is VERY common in people robbing houses, as you have a quick scope out of possible entry routes or maybe a busted lock on a garage or something.

People refer to this as racism. Do you honestly believe that if Trayvon was wearing a tuxedo that Zimmerman would have suspected him?

Yeah I don't think the American system is fucked on the whole, but certain states need to have a re-think.

For me the issue is unanimity; having studied the American system and recent history it seems to me that devolving judicial powers to individual states has proven problematic, as well as expensive when a claimant/defendant is unhappy with the verdict and escalates it to federal/supreme level.

Moreover, I think (call me biased) that the jury system in the UK is often a lot fairer; 12 individuals of various backgrounds and ethnicities, typically 6 men and 6 women. If the US implemented a nationwide template of similar sorts the whole juror bias issue could be effectively reduced and each trial would have a stronger chance at a balanced verdict.

@NOBLE, the stuff about the girl with the warning shots is irrelevant to me because people can pick this stuff out for days. A black guy killed a white kid last year with little to no news coverage, and he got off free as well. Many cases of different things happening like this.

It's relevant because both incidents happened in the same state and the same so-called "Stand Your Ground" law was invoked. In one case, the person (who fired a mere warning shot) was denied and she got 20 years. In another case, the person (who shot and killed someone) was acquitted under the law. I am in no way suggesting it is about race. I think it is about money more than anything. Plain and simple, when I said the justice system in the U.S. is fucked, I mean often times, two people can be charged with the same crime in the same state under the same law with the same circumstances and the only difference that would result in one getting off and the other being jailed is how much money they have to contribute towards lawyers or what type of lawyers they can afford to secure. Besides that, the prison system is privatized and a lot of penitentiaries are actually sold on the stock market. This means they have a financial interest in crime and they constantly lobby lawmakers to reduce the amount of offenses it would take for people to get locked up for certain periods. I can point you to cases where judges have actually been caught taking payments from prison industrials to sentence a certain amount of people. Shit is fucked...and much respect to Jason and Askari for thinking it's not, but I'm from the States and I've been through the legal system there. There are so many ways I can express how fucked up things are about the criminal justice system.

The worst thing about these systems with American is that EVERYONE complains about them, but the second you have a debate on the matters the American usually feels compelled to defend his country. Watch anyone debating with that prick Pierce Morgan. He's showing statistics on how the British law is superior to the American law, and the guys in the panels almost feel like he's saying his dick is bigger than theirs.

The constitution is what fucks America up. Having a constant manifest of red tape to drag you back would be a nightmare.

If you research that case you'd find out she actually pulled a gun out and shot her husband during an argument. Stop falling for propaganda.
