uhh I kinda have to lean towards Final's side here. If it contained a link to your own battle, i'd expect one of us to get in trouble for linking to it, even if it's a thread holding the battle link it and I don't think that should be done by the mods. You can't force it to get votes or looked at. If it doesn't, it doesn't just abide by what has always been known as correct to do.

I am not completely against Swavy's side because I don't think he meant to actually cheat on his battles, but if Final never checks out your battles anyways and you know this then why would you Pm or IM him any links in the first place.

SWAVY has admitted to sending links to forums advertising a battle. That's not exactly the same as IM'ing or PM'ing a direct link to your battle. The rules, as far as I understand them, prohibits sending direct links to one's own battle. There was never anything explicitly prohibiting people linking to forums that advertise battles. As mods, we are expected to follow the rules as much as anyone else. We are also expected to use our own better judgement at times because not every scenario is accounted for by a rule. SWAVY used his own better judgement, which may be different from how others would have seen it, but I have absolutely no doubts that he ever intended to cheat.
This has been brought up in the staff forums, and I think if staff at this moment clarify and establish as a rule that PM'ing and IM'ing folks links to forums that advertise one's own battles is to be prohibited, then SWAVY will abide by that.

It's the same thing as a direct link technically. You are still linking them to your battle and basically asking a specific person for a fair vote or to check it out. If you weren't intending that to them you wouldn't have sent them the link.

No matter what we will never know his intentions and can never believe without a proven truth, it will always be he/she said. But to fix the whole debate and PM's and IM's that put any members in a place where they are felt they have to vote or are asked to vote should be prohibited. Because just linking someone to a forum post that directly links to their battle to get a vote is just another way around and is bullshit.

To sum it up.. In A round about way that is the same fucking thing as a direct link. And in any case shouldn't go unnoticed. I'm not saying to punish him or anything but IMO this should def. be know known to not be allowed.
