WELCOME TO LETSBEEF

letsbeef is the world's number one rap battle website. here you will find some of the most talented rappers showcasing their skill and aptitude for battle rap. there are lots of cool features to check out so let's cover everything in order.

TEXT BATTLE AND AUDIO BATTLE

one of the first things you'll notice is that there is an option to select "audio" or "text" this is pretty simple, but essentially on letsbeef there are two different formats you can battle in, one being text, the other being audio. to view battles and ciphers that are audio, and same for text.

STARTING A BATTLE

now as exciting as it might be, before you go start a battle i'd recommend you take some smaller steps first. on letsbeef there is almost a 15 year history of battle rap. over this time what's popular or what's in style has varied. before you start a battle you should check out some of the other battles on the site. there is a tournament section (which i'll be addressing later) where you can view some of the best battles in lb history. once you've got a scope for how things are presented and formatted, starting a battle is as simple as three clicks.

extra tips on battles:
at the end of this guide there will be related links. one of those will be a "how to battle" thread link. make sure to check that out. also when you are selecting text battle, there are lots of things to keep in mind, but the option to be rated on metaphors and wordplay specifically will actually deter voters from putting the extra effort in and voting on your battle. it's most widely accepted to just do the regular vote where a voters rates each emcee overall. for audio battles, to keep things simple, i'd recommend acapella and using a custom beat.

CYPHERS

starting a cypher is a similar to starting a battle. the difference in content is a battle is specifically oriented around dissing an opponent, where as a cypher has no particular theme. it's similar to the sites "track function" (once again i'll address this soon) except sound quality isn't necessarily a focus. feel free to have fun by yourself or with your friends and rap about whatever you wish.

side note:
for those without a mic that wish to put their rap lyrics somewhere, the text cyhper section will perhaps become your best friend.

CREDITS

so what's with the credits? well it works like this. every time you vote on a battle, or rate a cypher, you will be given 1 credit. why do you need credits? to battle, it is required that you have credits. this is to make sure that everybody's battles are voted on. also, if you begin to store a large stock of credits, you can purchase clothing items and jewelry for your emcee.

TRACKS

if you're into the art of track making, then be pleased to know that letsbeef offers a section where you can post your songs and view the songs of other letsbeef members. on your page you can upload mp3 files as tracks.

FORUMS AND CHATROOMS

now that you've become accustomed to the basic features of letsbeef, i'll introduce you to the chatbox options. currently there are a couple different chatboxes available for use on letsbeef. for now, it's best to use the chatbox found in the forums tab to have a regular communication with others, as it is the most popular choice of chatbox currently. there is also an Instant function where you can view who's online and private message them.

the forums are a series of posts and threads divided into subjects like general talk, text talk etc. these areas are for letsbeef members to participate in more focused discussion. for example, if you wanted to discuss a recent king of the dot battle you enjoyed, you could make a thread about it and start a convo.

the letsbeef discord server is our attempt to modernize the chatbox and how users can communicate with each other. i will include the invite and link to this in the related links section below.

FAIR VOTERS CLUB

the fair voters club is a group of the most active and elite voters on letsbeef. the users in this group offer fair and un-biased votes on most battles that occur on letsbeef.
