A multi works from the first rhyming syllable (so you were right to uncap com in comPLACENT because it starts from PLACENT). But it also ends at the last rhyming multi.

If a syllable doesn't rhyme, you can't just uncap that shit and pretend it doesn't exist.

The thing is that when you start accentuating too much it REALLY takes away from the legitimacy of your rhyming and it overall brings the verse down a couple notches. I'm just going to say that people should at least try to have their accent be used in moderation to avoid confusion while keeping rhyming intact. If not? That's where we get @Subreal's argument from because there was HEAVY accentuating back in the Golden Era. I can definitely understand the argument he has on that one and I can understand everyone else's as well, but I'm stating that the simple solution should be to keep accentuation moderated.
