Ironically, that's something that puzzles me. My girlfriend was in a few bands and shit and I know a few people making music. To all of them, the lyrics are the most important part and they ALWAYS come first.
That's so fucked up to me. In rap, it's obviously very rarely ever that way around. You did an okay job staying on beat but as you say, you wouldn't even know what tempo you were gonna be raping in until you picked the beat. I just don't see how words can come before the melody. Doesn't compute with my head.
Makes me want to start writing bullshit love songs and make a fortune haha.

Most beat patterns are all the same haha. Check how Erupt Transferred his “Ignorant” song to a whole new beat after years on his soundcloud. It’s possible, you just gotta change your flow and make adjustments. It’s either your words will slow down or speed up. I have tons of songs already written.. I just gotta find the beat to work with them.
I was originally going to record those lyrics to Big Sean - No Favours. Lol but I liked the flow with the beat I used... which is Vince Staples - Norf Norf

You’re suppose to beat-count for every instrumental. If you constantly freestyle over beats just for practice, it gets easier and easier. When you’re writing and trying to throw it on a beat, you may have to substitute some words or change the amount of syllables in certain areas.

You can put different verses on different beats. Some beats make it a lot tougher than others and the way you flow on a beat can make it hard for you to adapt it to a different beat. But most verses can generally be spit over a plethora of beats.. That's how people had prewritten cypher verses back in the day and that's how people are doing radio freestyles now (in the scenario's where they don't know what beat will get played)

^ Co-sign. Rapping to differing beats with the same verse is incredibly easy.
