Does anyone here plan to make a career..

yo wax and dumbfounded aint making 100,000 a year my dude lol. But im trynna make a career off music, im actually in a good position tbh. I got a management team behind me, got another battle comin out soon, got that mixtape poppin off. My manager is bookin me shows and payin for a music video to get filmed next week. I also got mad friends in college's across the U.S so imma be marketing myself to those schools cause kids want that intelligent rap shit, plus im going on a west coast college music tour starting september. if all goes well i'll be around wax's level of fan base by the end of the year.

that's not true at all. A record deal is like a musical loan. They give you mad money to make your music then you have to pay them back, then you make tons of money, but they get a percentage, and it's definitely not 90%. But the reason it seems like 90% is cause you don't see a dime till you pay them back, plus if you don't pay them back they can just put your whole career on the shelf and stop producing you, now you have no way of paying them back and are not legally allowed to make music without running it through the record label that has put you on the shelf, so you're fucked

yes it's definitley 90% or pretty damn close to of the money you don't see cause you gotta factor in buying beats, promotion, shows, travel costs, legal bull shit, distribution, graphics, etc etc that the label pays for and thats not an independent label thats for a major label deal

well i completely disagree with you. I've been in university for one year and im taking a year off to pursue my rap career. If it doesn't work, i'll go back to school, but i doubt i'll be going back to school. I think university and the education system is completely flawed, it was made in the industrial revolution and thats why it just cranks us through like an assembly line and spits us out into the working world. I guarentee i will be making more money by the end of this year then any university kid, plus i will get REAL life experience about how to handle situations in REAL life, not how to write a test about a book, which will only help you... iN UNIVERSITY
