Suggestion: Text to Audio Recycling

It would be good for activity but at a superficial level. Personally, hearing bars after I read them previously doesn't sit well with me.. Doesn't feel like it should be a thing.

I'd prob have about 50 opens right now if this rule came back.

Although the emcee in me would prefer just to get this mobile audio recorder implemented ASAP rather than this.

Here's something you guys might not have thought of that this might allow that wouldn't have been before. Say I want to battle @Student. I don't because then I'd have to actually interact with his lyrics, but let's say I did. With this he and I could post our battle as both text and audio. Maybe Student out writes me but I kill him on the mic. Maybe it goes the other way. I think it would be a neat thing to try out and see what happens.


This could also, potentially, give some of the text guys who aren't necessarily great on the mic an excuse to exercise that skill a little more and get better at it.

I kinda like this .... but think people may get butt hurt ...

Let's say it happened and student won on audio and you won on the mic how does that become fair as lyrics are lyrics and if anything if you get a split decision surely this is showcasing people's lack of voting ability as the lyrics should win .... I get you may be ass on the mic and can't rap and deliver but if that's the case why would you take that chance on the mic when you know as a written it's unbeatable ....

The only actual issue I can forsee with this is someone writing some bars and then turning what used to be one battles worth of material into two quick battles, which raises the point that @Bleu brought up, bars can seem less impactful if you just read them in a text battle against one dude then you hear them in an audio the next day against someone else.

This is why I propose a time restraint, you can only recycle bars that have been in the arena for 3 months or more. This way almost everybody will still be able to drop opens like crazy considering all of our history, but none of the bars will become oversaturated or start being written solely to milk the most battles out of the bars.

This is the best point made so far for all in favor of using text for audio.
The time restraint idea would be another thing mods would have to monitor, etc etc, but could work.

Im leaning towards being against this, but the idea of it potentially breathing life into the audio section makes it appealing. Id say yes for that point alone.
