Kitchen of Dissolution: Part 1
Kitchen of Dissolution
Cheryl Allen
Neil Allen
Father Sweeney
Their attentions like robots, theres no distracting the focus,
The room weighs down on their shoulders, the tension anchors the moment,
However, it welcomes a float and greets a balance,
Across the desk, the contrast comes from Father Sweeney's calmness,
Both dangle daggers, and hide dangerous knives with teeth,
The Father opens the session, and Cheryl is given time to speak.
Father, I feel like he just doesent want to listen,
I tell him what to do, this is his mom's positition,
He doesent seem to care about relashonships,
So how can we even think about raising kids?
Are you going to mention, the constant fighting or what?
I don't care? That's because I'm busy providing for us,
Calm down Neil, you'll have your time in a minute,
But now Cheryl is speaking, and I'd like her to finish,
In summary, he shows no love or compassion,
When I bring it up, he pretends nothing has happened,
So how can we be a couple with that shit?
Excuse my language, it's just, I'm the only one in this marridge.
Neil's temper intensifies, palms shrink within tightened hands,
His jaw imprisons itself, teeth clinch, grind and gnash,
Cheryl revs him up, he longs to erupt the dormant throttle,
The mediator meets his demand, and Neil uncorks the bottle.
First, the truth,
Everyday I get up and go to work for you,
I want to relax when I'm tense and stressed,
But it's nag nag nag, give my head a rest!
It's always 'Where you going?' 'What you doing?', I've got a life to live.
But you don't have time for a wife or kids?
It's my own life Cheryl, you can't wreck it forever!
Wreck it? Marridge is a door, we both entered together.
This exchange was a battle, the two feeling nervious,
And they look to the judge, as he reveals his verdict.
Well there's miscommunication, and frankly that is the issue,
So mending it means, we'll see this marridge continue,
Rough times surround, but hopfully we will end it,
Don't alienate, just be thoughtful and very attentive,
You love each other, just go home and be generous please.
The pair nod to each other, both Neil and Cheryl agree.
They headed home, the tension lapsed, and they both ventured helping hands,
What they offered, was awkward at first, but at the end of the day, they both felt relaxed,
And the next morning, for both parties, was surreal for sure,
Arms wrapping bodies like presents, they feel secure,
Then Cheryl wanders off, Neil hears the door of the bathroom close,
He thinks nothing of it, and figures that 'when you have to go...',
Yet after a good length of some time, Neil decides to check on his wife,
He calls to the door, 'Honey, you okay?', in which she snaps 'Yes I am fine!',
The translation intended, 'No I am not', but Neil thinks she is blowing him off,
He retreats to the kitchen, ignoring the moment the toilet door is unlocked,
Cheryl solemly slips in while Neil is eating his breakfast,
Then suddenly the room stops and his spoon drops, she mutters 'Neil I am pregnant'.
