At times, I've seen lyrical content be docked points because of it being one syllable off or capped a certain way. Which to me is bs

Downgrading a verse cuz it wasnt capped is fuckin stupid

however...

capping DOES help the reader pick up your flow. As a text writer its your job to help the reader understand your verse as much as possible and in that sense capping is a great tool to use.

nah. you guys obviously struggle with the concept of formatting. as a writer, it's your job to make your content legible for the reader, therefore, capping your rhymes, and using quotes to signal the setup is all necessary. i believe structure is paramount in text battling.
