RULE's ILLMANIA Thoughts...

===== The Rosters =====

Well it was interesting from an outside POV. The inform textcee Rohaan didnt get picked by LoD and jumped ship to the AC's, causing Crysis to leave the AC's as a result. Was the gain of Rohaan in text worth the loss of Crysis in audio? I think with Rocky & Bleu picking up the slack it might of been an astute move by EtH & The AC's. The AC's were victims (?) of some unfortunate actions by former members, Manny's move to LoD being perhaps the biggest surprise of all.

Murda Muzik became the unlikely heroes of the roster deadline, recruiting only two people, one who was already making music with muzik anyways (Mani) and then bringing in Mayneak who they ended up not using. Props to MM for having faith in there long term people.

The roster race was probably one of the most entertaining parts of the entire competition. LoD clearly improved there text strength, AC's remained about even to the shape they were in prior to the events start, with the return of M-Rock being the biggest difference maker. MM got Mani to join on LB rather than just the off-site alliance they had, which could make a massive difference.

All in all, i think besides LoD heavily increasing there text presence, and AC's & MM getting Rocky and Mani back in an official capacity, we're looking at a mostly original line-up, well, for MM & AC's.

But hey this is just my two pence. Lemme talk god dammit!




===== The Line-Up =====

When all three crews submitted their line-up, i was surprised. I had tried to predict who each crew would select and was wrong on all counts. It seems a lot of tactical thinking went into this, and the choice of line-up could go a loooooooong way to deciding which crew comes out on top.

LoD's biggest surprise to me was taking the Video Battle GOAT of Letsbeef, stricc, and NOT placing him in that battle. Should Final Word lose the video battle, this might be a decision they regret.

AC's only interesting decision to me was using M-Rock as an audio battler rather than track one. The ship-jumping of Jack & Crysis may of made this a necessity though.

MM's biggest surprise in my eyes was the use of Rican, Mani Mula & AfterThought. I predicted AT would do track, Rican a solo text and Mani a audio. Putting Rican in a tag team does make them a little stronger than the rest though so maybe the Murda'ers got the tactics right.

Gotta be said, the tourney host did a damn good job on this card yo.




===== Predictions =====

Lets get the crystal ball out and see who's winning ILLMANIA based on the predictions of the idiot who got all three roster predictions wrong.

MD Vs EtH = MD (LoD 1, AC 0, MM 0)
The thing about this battle is that if Dave gets it right with his approach, this could easily be an upset. MD is one of the best battlers on the site tho so i have to give him a pre-battle edge. Could no-showing be an issue? I'd say so. Still i'll give Splat the benefit of the doubt.

Grizzy Vs Erupt = Grizzy (LoD 1, AC 0, MM 1)
This could possibly be the closest battle of the event. Both have moved onto more audio based formats in the last year, and i think Grizzy's lack of text-rust is what gives him the slightest edge here. Erupt is one of those guys who on his best day could beat anyone, but does he still have his best days infront of him? We will see.

Lock Vs AT = AT (LoD 1, AC 0, MM 2)
Lock is a guy who had the LB world at his feet after getting to the GC final only to be defeated by the incredible Revan. But the last year has seen Lock become very inconsistant, he seems to not know what his style is and his performances have been very erratic. AT on the other hand is always consistant... WHEN he turns up. Rust could be a issue and him showing at all could also be a problem. Either way i have to believe AT is the stronger textcee at the current time.

stricc Vs M-Rock = M-Rock (LoD 1, AC 1, MM 2)
I mean god-damnnnn what a battle. These are two of the three most consistant audio battlers of the last couple years. So why pick rocky over stricc? No idea. The only thing i think divides these two is form. rocky had a strong GC run, while stricc has been quiet since his probable battle of the year with Jason. Did i say Grizzy / Rupt was gonna be the closest battle? I may of lied.

Muggz Vs Phil = Phil (LoD 2, AC 1, MM 2)
Muggz is a strong battler but even though Phil is a dumbass with dumbass tendencies (RULE dont forum ether people lightly yo) it has to be said without question that Phil is one of the top five audio LB battlers of all time. I'd personally put him at no.3, and he also happens to be in his prime. So no matter what i just cannot see past a Phil victory here.

Bleu Vs Dono = Bleu (LoD 2, AC 2, MM 2)
Man another absolute tight ass battle. I think Dono is the more accomplished audio battler, with a few tourney finals under his wing. But Bleu is the in-form and more active. Any Dono always strikes me as a no show risk. But man this could go either way.

Jack & Row Vs Dean & Enf = Dean & Enf (LoD 2, AC 3, MM 2)
CLOSE THO! Seriously the issue to me would be Enf's inactivity as of late and how he will cope with rust. I think Dean on his day is one of the best new era cats on the site, so this is one i could easily get wrong... again, but i do worry about Enf's form. Also Jack's style is not one widely accepted yet which could hurt his team. so close. Man coin flip.

Papi & Fiddy Vs Pulse & Manny = Papi & Fiddy (LoD 2, AC 3, MM 3)
What oh what will pulse do. No show? Drop that garbage he did in his last text battle? Turn back the years and drop some '10 killed-coree-warpath bars? Pulse is the big mystery of Illmania. And with Rican being on great form lately and Fiddy carrying his LBT form into the basic arena i have to give my prediction to MM here.

Obey & War Vs Fueler & Cake = Obey & War (LoD 2, AC 4, MM 3)
Simply put, i think the two AC's battlers are in better form that the MM ones, and this in my eyes will be more one-sided than most on this card.

Dirty Vs Wonderbred Vs Vergil = Wonderbred (LoD 2, AC 4, MM 4)
Vergil is a complete underdog here, who ive never read anything from tbh. The current LBTT Champ DW Vs the most recent Topical GC Wonder is the probable big clash. And with DW being inactive as of late, i gotta go with the bred maker.

Thug Vs Eloh Vs Fizzle = Fizzle (LoD 3, AC 4, MM 4)
Man i dont know here either. When Roh has his game face on his bars are top notch. Eloh is probably the most well rounded video battler here, but i think Final will be hungry as fuck for a win here. This is another battler where any of them could win and i'd not be surprised. Gonna pick Final so he doesnt pms this thread tho. And cuz he's in-form on audio formats. But mostly the pms thing.

SG Vs Mani Vs Punk = Punk (LoD 4, AC 4, MM 4)
Bottom line is that for the past year, Punk has been the LB track king. And although SG has a unique style and Mani is a very polished vet, i'll give the slight edge to Mister Punk.
