One Bar PPV Ratings Explained
Rankings in the Exclusive One Bar PPV will be determined primarily by ELO ratings and secondarily by your one bar record.
For an explanation of the ELO rating system, check out this Wikipedia article below:
in the first month, everyone starts off with a provisional rating of 1200. As Manhattan has explained, once all the winners are determined, we will set up a poll to determine who should be the first champion and the first runner-up. The champion and the runner-up will battle each other in the next month's PPV card. Subsequently, the runner-up position will be determined based on whoever has the highest ELO rating (besides the champion). No runner-up will be allowed to battle the same champion two months in a row. So for example, if the runner-up fails to defeat the reigning champion in the July PPV, and by the end of August he is still the runner-up based on having the highest rating, the next person with the highest rating will be given the opportunity to battle the reigning champion for the championship.
You may seek to improve your rating by organizing your own private one bar battles in the Exclusive arena outside of the PPV schedule, however, the results of those battles will only count towards your PPV rating if your opponent is also already ranked in the One Bar PPV ratings table.
CALCULATOR Ratings will be determined with the use of a Glicko calculator (Glicko is an improvement upon the ELO system). I've attached the calculator I will be using to this post, so feel free to download it if you'd like to calculate your own prospective amount of points that you would win or lose against a given opponent. Along with the rating comes a Ratings Deviation (RD).This is similar to the standard deviation in statistics. Everyone going into their first PPV battle will start off with the provisional rating of 1200 and RD 350. Ratings will only change upon completed PPV battles. RD is something that decreases over time based on number of battles completed. The idea is that your rating will become more accurate over time the longer you stay in the PPV and you will find out how strong of a battler you actually are. The higher your RD is, the more ratings will fluctuate as a result of a win or a loss. When you lose, how many points are lost from your rating depends on the rating/RD of the person you lose to. The lower the rating of the person you lose to, the more points you would lose. Vice versa, when you win, the higher the rating of the person you beat, the more points you gain off that win. A person with a higher rating will always lose more points when they lose to a person with lower rating than that lower-rated person would lose if they lost to the higher-rated person. All of this is calculated along with formulas that have been built into a special calculator I've made for PPV rankings. Each PPV member will receive their own copy of the calculator once this tourney is over so that you may plot how you may move up the ranks.
RD TABLE This table shows how RD will decrease over time. The RD is an assumption of the accuracy of your rating. An RD of 10 means we are 99% sure this is your true rating. As your RD lowers, there is also less fluctuation in your rating due to a win or a loss. But of course, the RD of whoever you face will also be considered and calculated.
<table border="1" bordercolor="#999999" style="background-color:#252525" width="250" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="3"><tr><td><font color="yellow"><b>Number of Battles</b></td><td><font color="yellow"><b>RD</b></td></tr><tr><td><font color="aca7a7"><b>1st battle</b></font></td><td><font color="aca7a7"><b>350</b></font></td></tr><tr><td><font color="aca7a7"><b>2nd battle</b></font></td><td><font color="aca7a7"><b>300</b></font></td></tr><tr><td><font color="aca7a7"><b>3rd battle</b></font></td><td><font color="aca7a7"><b>250</b></font></td></tr><tr><td><font color="aca7a7"><b>Battle 4-6</b></font></td><td><font color="aca7a7"><b>200</b></font></td></tr><tr><td><font color="aca7a7"><b>Battle 7-10</b></font></td><td><font color="aca7a7"><b>150</b></font></td></tr><tr><td><font color="aca7a7"><b>Battle 11-20</b></font></td><td><font color="aca7a7"><b>100</b></font></td></tr><tr><td><font color="aca7a7"><b>Battle 21-30</b></font></td><td><font color="aca7a7"><b>50</b></font></td></tr><tr><td><font color="aca7a7"><b>Battle 31-40</b></font></td><td><font color="aca7a7"><b>40</b></font></td></tr><tr><td><font color="aca7a7"><b>Battle 41-50</b></font></td><td><font color="aca7a7"><b>30</b></font></td></tr><tr><td><font color="aca7a7"><b>Battle 51-60</b></font></td><td><font color="aca7a7"><b>20</b></font></td></tr><tr><td><font color="aca7a7"><b>Battle 61+</b></font></td><td><font color="aca7a7"><b>10</b></font></td></tr></table>
