One of he dumbest things I've read here. Under height? Maybe you mean underweight but here is the list of centers who played in that Era and height
Kareem Abdul Jabbar: 7'2"
Dennis Awtrey: 6'11"
Walt Bellamy: 6'11"
Tom Boerwinkle: 7'0"
Nate Bowmen: 6'11"
Mel Counts: 7'0"
Walter Dukes: 7'0"
Jim Eakins: 6'11"
Ray Felix: 6'11"
Hank Finkel: 7'0"
Artis Gilmore: 7'2"
Swede Halbrook: 7'3"
Reggie Harding: 7'0"
Bob Lanier: 6'11"
Jim McDaniels: 6'11"
Otto Moore: 6'11"
Dave Newmark: 7'0"
Rich Niemann: 7'0"
Billy Paultz: 6'11"
Craig Raymond: 6'11"
Elmore Smith: 7'0"
Chuck Share: 6'11"
Ronald Taylor: 7'1"
Nate Thurmond: 6'11"
Walt Wesley: 6'11"
To say Centers were under height is ridiculous
|
Wilt pro career started in 1959 & ended in 1973.
Half those centers you listed was drafted after 1966-67. (Kareem, Billy, Craig, Elmore) list goes on. Note - He made history March 2nd of 1962.
With that being said take a look at how things changed when competition started to come around.
60 - 37.6
61 - 38.4
62 - 50.4
63 - 44.8
64 - 36.9
65 - 34.7
66 - 33.5
67 - 24.1
68 - 24.3
70 - 20.5
Wilt was extremely talented, I'm not knocking him but we all know Hakeem The Dream the greatest center of all time.
---------- Post added at 08:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:00 PM ----------
Knicks C in the 100 pt game:
18 Darrall Imhoff C Height: 6-10 Weight: 220
8 Phil Jordon C Height: 6-10. Weight: 205
Compared to Wilt
13 Wilt Chamberlain Height:7-1 Weight: 275
Thats like asking a high school player to guard Kobe in a full game. Yes, He would drop over 100 pts.

LOL "when the competition started to come around" you mean when Wilt started to become plagued by injuries and wasn't giving a fuck about basketball. Wilt is still the best Center to ever play w/ over 72 NBA records. You are right however that the centers he played against vs knicks in the 100 pt game were weaker than wilt however comparing a 6ft10 220 lb professional nba player guarding Wilt to a high school player guarding Kobe is retarded.

I'm going to say Kobe's was more impressive TBH.

Yeah, but a 3 point shot is a lot harder than backing down someone and turning your big ass around to slam it in.

There was only 8 teams in the 1960-64. Than 9 teams in 1965-70.
No disrespect to the legends but C'mon, your not playing anybody.
Your playing the same teams over & over again. That's why I feel like
some of these legends are overrated. No one can take away Russell’s 11 rings,
but are his 11 championships more impressive than Jordan’s six or Magic Johnson’s five? Uh..... No!

If Wilt woulda had our knowledge of physical training and nutrition today he might've gone down as the greatest athlete ever...He would've been heavier, faster, & even a higher jumper
Shaq was already big...but he got MASSIVE when he went to LA. Shaq was 294 coming out of college & around 325 in Los Angeles...Nigga there's no way Wilt woulda been 275 ceteris paribus

Damn.. Weird that i keep agreein with an AC but def believe that. Shaq was taller, stronger, more weight, and in his prime could run tha floor.. I'm sure y'all seen his rookie year in Orlando when he shattered tha backboard on a break-a-way dunk.. Shit was pure strength. Shaq in his prime was so dominant on tha block. Greatest Center of all time. Alot of analyst actually compare him to Wilt.
In all seriousness though. it's impossible to compare players from different eras and see who is the greatest. But there is no question tha players now-a-days are bigger, faster, & stronger. Some researchers believe the human race has reached it's peak on athletic ability.

BTW in tha 1950s- Jewish people were considered to be gifted basketball players & there were some Jewish teams that were so dominant. I believe this is before the NBA, but i was watching videos and they were so garbage LOL. I would be able to shit all over them.

Mins: 42 FGA-FGM: 28-46 3PA-3PM: 7-13 FTA-FTM: 18-20 there's Kobe's stats.
Kobe shot 61% here (Highly impressive, especially w/ 11 3pters.)
FGA-FGM: 36-63 FTA-FTM: 28-32 that's Wilt. Kobe STILL took nearly 50 shots.
Wilt shot 57% here (Still impressive, but that's w/ no 3pters and 12 more FTS.)
I'm going to say Kobe's was more impressive TBH.
