Why do people feel the need to dick ride an artist they never listened to

Imagine never being introduced to an artist and then hearing of them.

"You weren't here when he was underground."

Who fucking cares man. If people are faking being fans to try and relate to you they are trying to be your friend at best and they are fake fans at worst.

But most people aren't as into music as a lot of us are, it isn't their fault they have lives outside and only notice something once it gets bigger. A lot of longtime fans are formed this way.
